Semarang (23/02) – Today, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) witnessed a high-quality event addressing crucial topics in contemporary politics. The International Visiting Lecture on the theme “Introduction to Politics and Election: Comparison between Indonesia and Japan” was successfully conducted, featuring experts from both Indonesia and Japan.
The main speaker for this event was Professor Yuzuru Shimada, a lecturer from Nagoya University who has extensively studied politics and elections in Japan. Professor Shimada provided profound insights into the Japanese political system and compared it with the political context of Indonesia.
The event, held in the FISIP Undip Theater Room, was attended by three prominent lecturers from the Department of Political and Government Studies at FISIP Undip. Dr. Drs. Muhammad Adnan, M.A., and Dr. Fitriyah, MS., participated as discussants, while Bangkit A. Wiryawan, S.Sos., MA., PhD., served as the discussion moderator.
Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol. Admin., the Dean of FISIP Undip, enthusiastically opened the event. In his opening remarks, he conveyed that there were many aspects to compare between the electoral processes in Indonesia and Japan. He emphasized that this event was not only an academic forum but also part of FISIP Undip’s efforts to realize the World Class University program through internationalization.
The discussions during the event covered various political aspects, ranging from the electoral system and the role of political parties to the social dynamics of society in a political context. Furthermore, it is hoped that this International Visiting Lecture will serve as a foundation for further collaboration between Undip and other international universities. Thus, FISIP Undip continues to fulfill its commitment to becoming a center for high-quality and globally oriented-political education.
As part of the commitment to disseminate knowledge and broaden perspectives, FISIP Undip plans to organize more similar activities in the future. This is expected to make a tangible contribution to advancing knowledge and building a broader academic network on an international level.
