Semarang (27/03) – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) has conducted an event in collaboration with the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP) under the theme “Controlling Pancasila Ideology Education in the 2024 Democratic Party.” This event took place on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in the Auditorium of FISIP Undip. The event was opened by Dr. Adhianti, S.IP., M.Si, as the Chief Secretary of BPIP, and Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, as the Dean of FISIP Undip. The event invited several speakers such as Mr. Handi Tri Ujiono, S.Sos., the Chairperson of the Central Java Province General Election Commission (KPU), Mr. Dr. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, as the Dean of FISIP Undip, and Mr. Muhammad Amin, S.AP., MH., as the Chairperson of the Central Java Province General Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu). The public lecture was attended by the academic community within the FISIP Undip environment and approximately 200 participants.

During his presentation, Mr. Handi Tri Ujiono, S.Sos., spoke about the progress of the 2024 General Elections, especially in Central Java, such as the percentage of participation of the Central Java community in the 2024 General Elections which had increased compared to 2019, wherein 2019 the participation percentage of the Central Java community in the General Elections was around 77% and had then increased to 83% in 2024. In addition, Mr. Handi also mentioned that the number of fake news or hoaxes regarding the 2024 General Elections had also started to decrease compared to 2019, as the public had become more aware and discerning about the information circulating on social media. Furthermore, Mr. Handi also addressed some issues faced during the General Elections such as disputes that need to be resolved in the Constitutional Court.

Next, during the session on the material presentation by the Chairperson of Bawaslu Central Java, Mr. Muhammad Amin, S.AP., MH., extensively discussed prevention, monitoring, and enforcement which were part of Bawaslu’s duties. Discussing prevention by Bawaslu, usually, Bawaslu took several preventive actions that required a process and were not instant. These preventive measures usually involved all elements of society, especially students and the people directly from upstream to downstream as mandated by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. In this session, Mr. Amin also conveyed that the public did not need to worry about “conflict” between Bawaslu and KPU.

The last material presentation was given by Dr. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, as the Dean of FISIP Undip, who emphasized the importance of practising the Pancasila ideology in national life. In his presentation, Mr. Teguh emphasized that as Indonesian citizens, especially students, it was necessary to implement Pancasila in everyday life.

This public lecture event not only included material presentations but also allowed students as participants to express their opinions, ask questions, and share perspectives as part of a two-way discussion session. The discussion session proceeded smoothly with speakers providing answers to questions and concerns raised by the participants.

Finally, the discussion results or conclusions of this event emphasize that as Indonesian citizens, especially during the election period, we need to be wise citizens where we need to consider wisely so that we can choose who is suitable and appropriate according to our conscience. Furthermore, as a democratic society, Indonesians need to monitor the progress of elections and should choose according to their own will and conscience.
