Semarang – Central Java. The International Office of Universitas Diponegoro (KUI Undip) once again held a socialization of IISMA 2023. The event raised the topic of 2nd Round IISMA 2023 Preparation (Tips and Tricks for Langauge Proficiency Test) on Wednesday (01/02). This event was a continuation of the IISMA 2023 Socialization which was held on Tuesday (24/01). On this occasion, KUI Undip invited three speakers who were awardees of IISMA and IISMAeVo 2022, namely Felda Adisti (Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering), Widya Kania Rusminar (Information and Public Relations Study Program, Vocational School), and Jessica Nathania (International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences).

The event began at 10.05 GMT+7, with an opening from the MC and continued with remarks from Diastama Anggita Ramadhan, LLM. as Vice Head of Undip’s International Office. He also moderated the webinar. The next session was a presentation from Felda Adisti, one of the awardees for the University of British Columbia, Canada. In her presentation, she shared some tips on writing a good motivation letter. Felda suggested using the Star Method, which was a structured situation, task, action, and result.

The next session was presented by awardees from Coventry University, UK (Widya Kania Rusminar) and the University of Glasgow, UK (Jessica Nathania). In the next material, Widya and Jessica gave some tricks to get TOEIC and IELTS scores optimally. The following agenda was presented by Widya, one of the 2022 IISMA awardees. She also shared her experience during her preparation for the TOEIC test. Widya emphasized that students must prepare as well as possible before carrying out the English language proficiency test.

Unlike the previous material which focused on the TOEIC test, the last session was presented by Jessica regarding the IELTS English language proficiency test. She conveyed that in choosing a host university, prospective awardees must do research first on the minimum IELTS score of the intended university. She also explained that the IELTS test had high credibility compared to other English language proficiency tests. In the end, in preparation for the foreign language proficiency test, prospective participants must prepare seriously so that the expected results could be maximized. (AR-AH)
