“Whatever we have experienced throughout this life or the process of our journey at Universitas Diponegoro, good and bad, sad and happy, we must enjoy it because behind it all there are always lessons in everything while we proceed. What we have learned at Undip is that there are supplied elements of 4C, namely Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, and Creativity and Innovation. Be proud to be a part of Undip because it has given us a lot of provisions,” said Rr. Chusnu Syarifa D.K. S.A.B., M.Si, Business Administration Alumnus, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro.
“At the beginning of my study at Undip, I entered the 3-year Diploma program of Marketing Management. I thought that there would not be a calculation course in that program yet it turned out that there was. I studied accounting or budgeting, in the end, like it or not, I had to enjoy it. Then I signed for the undergraduate extension class in Business Administration and graduated in 2007 ” she added.
She had gained a lot of experience while studying at Undip, according to herself, the most memorable activity was at the beginning of her Diploma Program in 2001. “At that time there were many extracurricular options, I wanted to join the Javanese Arts UKM (Student Activity Unit), even though it had been a while I did not dance, but there happened to be a recruitment of new members at Theater Diponegoro. So, I joined the theatre. There were plus points to enter the theatre, including fostering self-confidence, self-development knowledge, how we think differently from others or out of the box. And until now I still maintain good relations with the seniors, friends and younger siblings of the Diponegoro Theater,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Chusnu’s career has gone through many processes, starting from being a phone booth keeper, being an administrator at a surveyor, a teacher for children with special needs in international schools, expert staff as well as administrative staff in political organizations for 10 years, internal audit, personal foreigner assistants to tour guides. At one point she then thought about a permanent job, and in 2015 she tried to register for civil servants. She was accepted as a lecturer in the Department of Administrative Education, Faculty of Economics at Universitas Negeri Yogjakarta (UNY).
“From the work experiences that I have been through, actually any profession, if you pursued it, it will have a good impact. This means that it is not just being a civil servant. I also convey this to my students, so they have many choices or alternative jobs. I have a goal not only to produce students as teachers but also to provide other skills and job descriptions outside of being educators,” she said.
“Undip is my inspiration, I always remember my lecturers. It is because, from the 3-Year Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate programs, Undip had become a place for me to gain knowledge and right now I am currently back to continue my doctoral studies at Undip. The process while at Undip, both academic and organizational life had nurtured me to have the 4C skills, communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, as well as creativity and innovation. I did not sign up for any job at Undip, but I will develop what I have gained while at Undip in another place, “she concluded. (Linda – Public Relations)
