Academic Expertise Group on Public Sector Collaboration

The Academic Expertise Group on Public Sector Collaboration focuses on governance studies and synergy among public actors in addressing policy challenges. Its scope includes issues such as migrant worker protection, urban governance, and transnational policies. Through the World Class University program, this group has invited a Visiting Professor from Griffith University to discuss international collaboration and journal publication strategies. Research strengthening is also carried out through a domestic Post-Doctoral program with Tidar University, resulting in joint publications and a public lecture on forbearance. In addition, this group initiated the International Research Group Joint Collaboration, which has produced copyrighted monographs, Scopus-indexed publications, and global academic partnerships.

The Academic Expertise Group on Public Governance focuses on studies of government administration, decentralization, and bureaucratic reform at both national and global levels. Through the World Class University program, this group has hosted a Visiting Professor from Tunghai University, Taiwan, who delivered a webinar on cross-sector governance, a research manuscript clinic, and discussions on international collaboration. In addition, a Visiting Professor from the University of the Philippines contributed through joint article publications, a public lecture on decentralization and the future of bureaucracy in the Global South, as well as manuscript writing clinics for faculty members. These activities strengthen international research networks and support the improvement of the Department’s scientific publication quality.

The Academic Expertise Group on Development Administration emphasizes studies on governance innovation for development, strengthening public policy, and community empowerment based on sustainability. Through the World Class University program, this group invited a Visiting Professor from Universiti Utara Malaysia to discuss reinventing government to achieve sustainable development and to foster international research collaboration. In addition, this group established cooperation with business and industry (DUDI) by preparing a policy brief on empowering batik artisans in Pekalongan as part of the green industry initiative. It also initiated the SDGs International Community Services program in Demak, focusing on enhancing community capacity in mangrove tourism management and fish smoking, thereby making tangible contributions to sustainable development.

The Academic Expertise Group on Public Policy emphasizes studies on public policy effectiveness, collaborative governance, and partnerships among institutions and stakeholders. Through the World Class University program, this group invited a Visiting Professor from Universiti Teknologi MARA to discuss collaborative governance and support research manuscript clinics. This group also encourages the establishment of international research collaborations that produce intellectual property rights (IPR), reputable Scopus-indexed international publications, and institutional partnerships with global partners. All these activities are directed toward strengthening academic capacity, enriching cross-country perspectives, and making a tangible contribution to improving the quality of public policy formulation and implementation in Indonesia.

The Academic Expertise Group on Bureaucratic Reform focuses on studies related to institutional governance, anti-corruption, and bureaucratic reform in both global and local contexts. Through the World Class University program, this group invited a Visiting Professor from Northwestern University to discuss issues of anti-corruption policy and institutional governance, as well as to foster international research collaboration. This group is also actively involved in preparing policy briefs and establishing partnerships with Business and Industry (DUDI), particularly the Tegal Regency Government, to integrate academic research with industry practice for the strengthening of tourism and MSMEs. All these activities aim to enhance public policy capabilities, improve institutional accountability, and provide relevant and practical policy solutions.

The Academic Expertise Group on Public Service Management focuses on the development of innovative, sustainable, and technology-based public service management knowledge and practices. Through the World Class University program, this group establishes international collaborations with top-ranked universities, such as Nagoya University and Newcastle University, listed in the QS World University Rankings Top 200. Activities include academic webinars, research manuscript clinics, and international research discussions and collaborations aimed at enhancing research capacity and scientific publication. In addition, this group actively engages in institutional partnerships through MoUs or MoAs with international partners. All these activities are directed toward strengthening academic contributions to the development of adaptive and sustainable public service management in Indonesia.

Activities include academic webinars, public lectures, workshops, and international research discussions and collaborations aimed at enriching academic insights and governance practices. Additionally, this group actively engages in international community service related to the SDGs, as well as mentoring and joint scientific article publications. All these activities are directed toward strengthening academic capacity, expanding international networks, and making tangible contributions to the development of inclusive and sustainable government governance in Indonesia.

Activities include publications in reputable Scopus-indexed international journals, preparation of training/workshop materials, guest lectures, and formulation of collaborations formalized through agreements. All these activities are directed toward strengthening academic networks, improving research quality, and making a significant contribution to the development of government science and policy analysis in Indonesia.

The Academic Expertise Group on Bureaucracy, Central, Regional, and Village Governance focuses on governance studies across various administrative levels, from central to village governance. Through the World Class University program, this group has hosted a World Class Practitioner from Transparency International Indonesia (TII) to share knowledge and best practices in strengthening transparent and accountable governance. Activities include public lectures with practitioners on education development collaboration, as well as assessment of final projects in collaboration between faculty and practitioners. All these activities aim to strengthen synergy between academics and practitioners, enhance education quality, and make tangible contributions to the development of good governance in Indonesia.
