Profile of Academic Expertise Cluster (KBK) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Diponegoro University

Academic Expertise Cluster (KBK) at FISIP UNDIP serve as units that bring together faculty members with similar research interests and areas of expertise. These cluster function as platforms for developing faculty competencies in education, research, community service, and personal growth.

Through both internal and cross-disciplinary collaboration, each AEG actively contributes to advancing scientific knowledge, building partnerships with academics at national and international levels, and delivering outcomes for students and society in the form of research outputs, teaching materials, and social programs. Currently, FISIP UNDIP hosts 21 AEGs across 5 departments, each fostering academic, professional, and social development through various programs and initiatives.

The Academic Expertise Group on Public Sector Collaboration focuses on governance studies and synergy among public actors in addressing policy challenges. Its scope includes issues such as migrant worker protection, urban governance, and transnational policies. Through the World Class University program, this group has invited a Visiting Professor from Griffith University to discuss international collaboration and journal publication strategies. Research strengthening is also carried out through a domestic Post-Doctoral program with Tidar University, resulting in joint publications and a public lecture on forbearance. In addition, this group initiated the International Research Group Joint Collaboration, which has produced copyrighted monographs, Scopus-indexed publications, and global academic partnerships.

The Academic Expertise Group on Public Governance focuses on studies of government administration, decentralization, and bureaucratic reform at both national and global levels. Through the World Class University program, this group has hosted a Visiting Professor from Tunghai University, Taiwan, who delivered a webinar on cross-sector governance, a research manuscript clinic, and discussions on international collaboration. In addition, a Visiting Professor from the University of the Philippines contributed through joint article publications, a public lecture on decentralization and the future of bureaucracy in the Global South, as well as manuscript writing clinics for faculty members. These activities strengthen international research networks and support the improvement of the Department’s scientific publication quality.

In addition, this group established cooperation with business and industry (DUDI) by preparing a policy brief on empowering batik artisans in Pekalongan as part of the green industry initiative. The Academic Expertise Group in Human Resource Management Strategy focuses on the development of human capital strategies, workforce management, and innovative approaches in managing human resources within the global economic context. Through the World Class University program, this AEG collaborates internationally with Universiti Teknologi MARA via visiting professor activities addressing strategic human capital and workforce issues.
