Cultivating Young Diplomats: HMPS HI Undip Successfully Hosts IRUD’s MUN School (IRMUNS) 2026

In an ongoing effort to nurture a competitive academic atmosphere on campus, the Student Association of the International Relations Study Program at Diponegoro University (HMPS HI Undip), through its Division of Scientific and Analytical Affairs, has officially brought back its flagship program, IRUD’s MUN School (IRMUNS) 2026. This initiative serves as a consistent, strategic step in developing students’ interest, talent, and capacity in the realm of simulated diplomacy, particularly through the Model United Nations (MUN).

Serving as the initial gateway for students to dive into simulated diplomacy, IRMUNS 2026 was designed to be far more than just an introductory class. Instead, the program was crafted as an engaging yet deep learning space to understand MUN from scratch. Here, participants were guided to sharpen their public speaking skills, learn strategic negotiation and lobbying tactics during caucuses, and master technical academic aspects such as drafting position papers and resolution drafts.

The intensity of this year’s program was packed into two interactive Coaching Sessions held on May 2-3, 2026. The participants’ skills were then put to the test during the Mini MUN series on May 16-17, 2026, which served as the grand finale of the conference simulation.

The high enthusiasm of the participants throughout the sessions was inseparable from the vital role of Najwa Rahma Syafira, a 2024 International Relations student. In this year’s IRMUNS cycle, she took on a dual role: serving as the mentor who delivered the training materials, as well as the Chair during the Mini MUN simulation. Drawing from her own experience as an IRMUNS participant last year, combined with a solid track record in various MUN competitions, she delivered relatable and easy-to-grasp insights. This enabled participants to smoothly bridge IR theories into an exciting and competitive council simulation.

The conclusion of IRMUNS 2026 is expected to keep the participants’ learning momentum going. HMPS HI Undip envisions that the outcomes of this intensive program will bring forth a new generation of critical, globally conscious young diplomats who are ready to extend the long list of achievements for International Relations at Diponegoro University in future MUN competitions.
