FISIP UNDIP Holds “Undip Global Classroom” Discussing AI-Based Smart Governance and South Korea’s Strategies

Semarang — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University (FISIP UNDIP), once again hosted an international academic forum through the Undip Global Classroom activity with the theme “AI-based Smart Governance and Strategies in Korea” as part of the Bureaucratic Reform and Innovation course. This activity was held on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time) online via Zoom Meeting.

This activity featured an international academic, Professor Seunghwan Myeong from Inha University, South Korea, as the main speaker. The moderator for this activity was Yoga Aldi Saputra, S.A.P., MPA, a lecturer at the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University. In the forum, Professor Myeong presented the development of artificial intelligence (AI)-based governance and bureaucratic innovation strategies in South Korea. The material highlighted both the opportunities and challenges of AI implementation in the public sector, including issues of transparency, digital governance risks, data protection, and strengthening the effectiveness of modern bureaucracy.

Also present as discussants were Dr. Dra. Dyah Lituhayu, M.Si., Satria Aji Imawan, S.I.P., MPA, and Damaris Bernike Bellastuti, S.A.P., M.A. The three provided academic perspectives on smart governance implementation, bureaucratic reform, and the challenges of digital transformation in Indonesia.

The Undip Global Classroom activity is part of FISIP UNDIP’s commitment to expanding international academic networks and enhancing the capacity of students and the academic community in understanding contemporary global issues, particularly in the fields of public administration, governance, and public policy innovation.

Through this forum, participants gained insights into best practices of technology-based governance, including the use of AI in public services, data-driven decision-making, and strengthening bureaucratic innovation in the digital era. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the active participation of students and academics during the discussion and question-and-answer sessions.

This activity is expected to strengthen international academic collaboration while encouraging the capacity development of Indonesia’s younger generation in facing the future digital transformation of the public sector.
