Communication Socialization I (COMMS I) is one of the work programs of the Advocacy and Student Welfare Department of the HMPS Communication Science, FISIP, Diponegoro University, serving as a platform for informative, transparent, and participatory academic socialization for Communication Science students. This work program consists of a series of activities, including material presentations, discussions, and the dissemination of information regarding prevention and response measures.
The implementation of COMMS I 2026 also carries the theme “Violence: Recognize, Prevent, Fight” as an effort to raise student awareness of the various forms of violence that still frequently occur in social environments, particularly in academic settings. Sexual violence and bullying can manifest in various forms, whether physical, verbal, social, or digital, which are often unnoticed or even considered normal.
COMMS I 2026 is expected to encourage the creation of a safer, more respectful campus environment that does not tolerate any form of violence, whether sexual violence or bullying.
This year, COMMS I invited a speaker from the FISIP Wellness Unit with a background in psychology, who has a deep understanding of the topic of violence. The speaker discussed the definition of violence, types of violence, and ways to handle violence, while also opening a discussion space for students who wished to learn more about the relevance between the material and current cases.
Through this activity, students are expected to better understand and care about the topic of violence. They can recognize the forms of violence, fight against all forms of violence, and participate in preventing violence on campus and in society.
