FISIP Undip Alumni Success Story: Rizka Ciptaningsih Emphasizes Integrity and Information Literacy in Civil Servant Career

Semarang — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University (FISIP Undip), once again held the FISIP Undip Alumni Success Story program, an inspiring sharing forum featuring alumni who share their experiences transitioning from campus to the professional world.

In this episode, the program featured Rizka Ciptaningsih, an alumna of the Public Administration Study Program, FISIP Undip, class of 2015, who currently works as a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Central Java Provincial Government and is a member of the Implementing Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) Team at the Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD) of Central Java Province.

In a podcast session, Rizka discussed her career journey from graduating from FISIP Undip to her direct involvement in managing public information within the government bureaucracy. She emphasized that the professional world, particularly the public sector, demands more than just technical skills, but also integrity, meticulousness, and responsibility towards the public interest.

“The knowledge gained in Public Administration is not just about policy or administrative theory, but also forms systematic, ethical, and service-oriented thinking,” said Rizka.

The Relevance of Public Administration Science in the Professional World

Rizka explained that courses related to government administration, organizational communication, and regulatory understanding served as an important foundation for her current work. Her academic experience at FISIP Undip also helped her understand the workflow of bureaucracy and the dynamics of decision-making in the public sector.

Furthermore, she considered involvement in campus activities and student organizations to have played a significant role in shaping soft skills such as teamwork, time management, and readiness to face work pressure.

Challenges for Civil Servants in the Era of Information Disclosure

As part of the Implementing PPID, Rizka highlighted the challenges of managing public information in the digital era. Information disclosure demands that civil servants work transparently, quickly, and accurately, while still adhering to legal boundaries and bureaucratic ethics.

“Information literacy is a key competency for civil servants. A small mistake in conveying information can have wide-ranging impacts, so meticulousness and understanding of regulations become very important,” she explained.

Message for FISIP Undip Students

Concluding the Alumni Success Story session, Rizka advised FISIP Undip students to start building professional character while still in college. She encouraged students to actively seek experiences, hone communication skills, and not hesitate to consider a career in the public sector.

“For Public Administration students, the government sector is a vast space for actualization. If pursued with commitment and integrity, a civil servant career can be a path to dedication and self-development,” she concluded.

The FISIP Undip Alumni Success Story program is expected to strengthen alumni networks, provide students with a realistic picture of the professional world, and affirm the role of alumni as part of the lifelong learning ecosystem at FISIP Undip.
