Cross-Industry, One Foundation: The Digital Career Journey of an Adbis FISIP Undip Alumna.

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, once again organized the FISIP Success Story program through a shooting/taping event held at the FISIP Undip Multimedia Laboratory on November 24, 2025. This event featured an alumna from the 2004 batch of the Business Administration Study Program, Gladys, S.AB, MBA, who currently serves as Head of Digital Marketing. Through this forum, Gladys shared her cross-industry professional career journey with the FISIP Undip academic community, particularly students.

During the sharing session, Gladys recounted her career journey from graduating from Business Administration at FISIP Undip, continuing her master’s education (S2) at the Bandung Institute of Technology, to entering the professional workforce. Her career began at Arnott’s, a multinational FMCG company, then continued on to Sampoerna. To deepen her understanding of comprehensive marketing (360 marketing), she moved to a technology company to strengthen her digital marketing competencies, before being entrusted with the role of Vice President of Marketing at Ajaib. This cross-sector experience was followed by her role at a digital bank from Hong Kong, eventually leading her back to Sampoerna in the strategic position of Head of Digital Marketing.

More than just a job history, Gladys emphasized that one of the keys to her success derived from the soft skill foundation obtained during her university years, such as structured thinking, logical thinking, an agile attitude, adaptability, and English proficiency. According to her, these skills are crucial for surviving and competing in the dynamic world of work. She also revealed the main challenges in her current role, particularly in maintaining team morale and leading Gen Z with an appropriate approach. Concluding the session, Gladys advised students to be discerning in choosing knowledge and fields of study relevant to future needs, including writing and communication skills with an understanding of business context, as important provisions for facing the transformation of the working world.
