Learn, Fail, Rise: The Success Story of Mas Yus Adityya, ASN at BAWASLU Central Java Province, in Finding His Career Path

(Semarang, November 21, 2025) — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Diponegoro University, once again presented the UNDIP Alumni Success Story program, an inspirational sharing space highlighting alumni career journeys from campus to the professional world. In this edition, FISIP Undip featured Yusuf Manggala Adityatama, S.A.P., known professionally as Yus Adityya, an alumnus of the Department of Public Administration, class of 2013, who graduated in 2017.

In a discussion session guided by Rahma Ayu Nadya Safira, A.Md.Li., S.S., Yus Adityya shared his non-instantaneous career journey, which involved a long process. Since his college days, he instilled the principle that students should not only focus on academics but also actively build their personal capacity. While studying at FISIP Undip, he developed his interests and talents in communication and public speaking through the world of broadcasting as a radio and television presenter, which he pursued alongside his academic activities.

After graduating in 2017, Yus Adityya recounted a transition phase that was not always smooth. He did not immediately obtain a permanent job and chose to continue developing himself in the field of communication, while trying various career opportunities, including participating in state civil apparatus (ASN) selection processes. He admitted that this process was full of challenges and failures, having to take the selection several times before finally succeeding.

“The process of falling and getting up is what actually shaped me. From failure, I learned to evaluate myself, correct my shortcomings, and prepare myself more maturely,” he explained.

Besides pursuing a formal career, Yus Adityya continues to develop his public speaking skills as a professional Master of Ceremony (MC). For him, communication skills are not just about performing on stage, but also about readiness, discipline, and the ability to read a situation. He emphasized that preparation and self-evaluation are key in every role he undertakes, both in the professional world and in the public sphere.

In his reflection, Yus Adityya asserted that his background in Public Administration provides a strong foundation for thinking about understanding organizational processes, policies, and communication with the public. Various courses such as public management, public policy, organizational analysis, and organizational ethics are considered relevant in shaping systematic, adaptive, and integrity-oriented thinking.

He also emphasized the main values needed for Public Administration graduates: integrity, ethics, leadership, and the courage to keep learning and progressing. According to him, failure is an inseparable part of a career journey and should not become an obstacle to moving forward.

Concluding the discussion session, Yus Adityya conveyed a message to current and prospective students not to focus solely on graduation, but also to actively build soft skills, broaden their experiences, and dare to take up space in the public sphere.

“Don’t just go to college; build yourself. Hone your abilities, don’t be afraid to fail, and don’t hesitate to appear in public. The world needs young people’s ideas and contributions,” he advised.

Through the UNDIP Alumni Success Story program, FISIP Undip remains committed to presenting inspiring alumni stories as real-life lessons for students in preparing themselves for a dynamic and competitive professional world.
