KENDAL – In a tangible effort to realize a golden generation free from stunting, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Diponegoro University officially launched the SAGITA (Sahabat Gizi Kita / Our Nutrition Friend) program in Bandengan Village, Kendal Regency, on Tuesday (09/16/2025). This program is part of the FISIP UNDIP World Class University initiative designed to strengthen both nutritional and family economic resilience through local community empowerment.
Stunting prevention through the SAGITA program is implemented as a strategic realization of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) point 3, which is to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Recognizing that stunting is not merely a health issue, FISIP UNDIP integrates socio-economic aspects by introducing the Stunting Kitchen innovation. This facility functions as an educational center and nutritious food production unit managed directly by residents to ensure that children in Bandengan Village receive optimal nutritional intake sustainably.
Through intensive mentoring, the community is not only taught about the importance of balanced nutrition but is also equipped with skills to manage family economic resources, enabling them to become financially independent in meeting their healthy food needs. This holistic step is expected to reduce stunting rates in Kendal Regency while serving as an adaptive and impactful model for community empowerment, ensuring long-term health benefits for future generations.
