Semarang, February 12, 2026 – In an era marked by disruption, becoming a student activist is not merely a choice but a necessity for shaping resilient future leaders. Amidst increasingly complex global challenges, student involvement in organizations serves as a crucial platform to hone skills beyond the lecture hall, cultivate social empathy, and practice the courage to make decisions. This very spirit resonated during the appointment ceremony for the 2026 Student Organization (Ormawa) Boards within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip). The solemn event took place in the Diponegoro Muda Hall, 1st Floor, Building D, on Friday morning.
The ceremony, attended by faculty leadership, heads of the Student Creativity and Achievement Program Unit, study program administrators, faculty advisors, and the incoming 2026 Ormawa board members, marked a significant moment of leadership transition, imbued with moral messages and inspiration.
The event featured a series of speeches from both outgoing and incoming leaders, offering profound reflections. The President of the FISIP Undip Student Executive Board (BEM) for 2025, Muhammad Daffa Alfirrosy, in his farewell address, reminded everyone of the essence of sacrifice in leadership. “We must truly become leaders. (…) As the saying goes, ‘Leiden is Lijden,’ which means to lead is to suffer,” he stated, concluding his speech with a hope that the new board would serve as role models for other students.
Echoing this sentiment, the President of the FISIP Undip Student Senate for 2025, Anang Abhi Nugroho, emphasized that joining a student organization is a conscious choice to create an impact. “We are here not merely as Ormawa administrators; we are here because we choose to be present, to be involved, and to have a positive impact on our surrounding environment,” he explained. He concluded by asserting that the greatest courage in organizational life is not found on the stage, but in taking action, being useful, and making a difference for the community.
The recipients of this leadership baton welcomed their new mandate with a spirit of renewal and relevance. The President of the FISIP Undip BEM for 2026, Rijaldi Rauf, motivated his peers to move beyond conventional organizational management. Quoting philosopher Buya Hamka as a catalyst for enthusiasm, he said, “If life is merely about living, even boars in the jungle live. And if work is merely about working, even apes work.” This statement called upon all new board members to internalize the value of social impact in every work program.
Meanwhile, the President of the FISIP Undip Student Senate for 2026, Adhitya Bona Martuah Saragih, highlighted an internal challenge: the declining interest among students to engage in organizations in recent years. He firmly stated, “All of us, the 2026 FISIP Undip student organization administrators being inaugurated today, have a moral responsibility to ensure that Ormawa becomes relevant again (to student interests).”

Further reinforcing the event’s message, the Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., conveyed the Rector’s sentiments from the university-level appointment, emphasizing the strategic role of students. “Be a student activist. By being a student activist, you will acquire all necessary skills. Not only academic abilities in class, (…) but you also prepare yourselves for the real-world challenges ahead,” he asserted, underscoring that campus activism is a leadership laboratory before students truly face societal dynamics.
The ceremony’s highlight was the symbolic signing of the Integrity Pact and Commitment Pact for the 2026 FISIP Undip Ormawa by board representatives. This moment symbolized their readiness to steer their organizations with full responsibility. The officially appointed student organizations include the Faculty Student Senate, the Student Executive Board (BEM), all Undergraduate Study Program Student Associations (HMPS) within FISIP, and over a dozen Activity Implementation Units (UPK). These UPKs encompass the Muslim Student Family Forum (FKMM), the Protestant Christian Student Fellowship (PMKP), the Catholic Student Spiritual Service (PRMK), the Social Care Student Association (HMPS), the Opini Student Press Institute (LPM), the Social and Political Science English Study Club (SPECIES), Aufklarung, the Student Choir (PSM) of Orange Choir, Sakutala, the Traditional Dance Unit (Tatra), Badminton, the Globies Basketball Unit, and the Orangers Football Unit. With this new leadership in place, FISIP Undip is optimistic that the pulse of student organizations will grow stronger, more relevant, and make tangible contributions to the progress of the university and society at large.
