Semarang, January 20, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), held the Scientific Orations of Newly Graduated Doctors of FISIP UNDIP – Session 2 as part of its commitment to FISIP UNDIP Impactful, delivering academic excellence that is simultaneously dignified and beneficial to society.
Carrying the theme “Socio-Political Institutional Resilience in Addressing the Challenges of Modernization, Sustainable Development, and Peacebuilding,” Session 2 reaffirmed the strategic role of social sciences in responding to national challenges related to democracy, diversity, and inclusive, sustainable development.

The session opened with a scientific oration by Dr. Phil. Wahid Abdulrahman, S.IP., M.Si., a lecturer in the Department of Political Science and Government, FISIP UNDIP, and a graduate of Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, entitled “The Santri Networks and the Islamic Political Turn in Indonesia.” His oration highlighted santri networks as a form of socio-political capital that contributes to democratic consolidation, religious moderation, and more inclusive political governance.

Next, Dr. Nurist Surayya Ulfa, S.Sos., M.Si., Ph.D., a lecturer in the Department of Communication Science and a graduate of Bournemouth University, United Kingdom, presented her scientific oration entitled “Digital Virtual Mediation and the Formation of Jilbab Girls as Modern Consumer Subjects.” The oration reflected on the dynamics of identity formation and digital culture while emphasizing the importance of media literacy in empowering society amid ongoing digital transformation.

Issues of peacebuilding and social cohesion were addressed by Dr. Nadia Farabi, S.Hub.Int., M.A., Ph.D., a lecturer in International Relations, FISIP UNDIP, and a graduate of Griffith University, Australia, through her scientific oration entitled “Peacebuilding in the Context of Heresy Claims: The Case of Ahmadiyya and Shia in Indonesia.” The oration underscored dialogical and inclusive approaches to fostering dignified peace within Indonesia’s plural society.

Session 2 concluded with a scientific oration by Dr. Amni Zarkasyi Rahman, S.A.P., M.Si., a lecturer in Public Administration, Universitas Diponegoro, and a graduate of the Doctoral Program in Public Administration at Universitas Diponegoro, entitled “An Institutional Resilience Model in Sustainable Community-Based Tourism Management in Semarang Regency: A Study of Institutional Capacity in Tourism Villages.” This oration reaffirmed UNDIP’s scholarly contribution to regional development through strengthening adaptive institutional capacity and community welfare–oriented tourism governance.
Through the Scientific Orations of Newly Graduated Doctors of FISIP UNDIP – Session 2, FISIP UNDIP reaffirmed its position as an academic institution that generates impactful knowledge, promotes inclusive public policy, and delivers concrete solutions to Indonesia’s socio-political challenges; aligned with the vision of UNDIP as an Impactful, Dignified, and Beneficial University.
