Scientific Orations of Newly Graduated Doctors of FISIP UNDIP – Session 2: Highlighting Digital Transformation in Politics, Business, and Culture

Semarang, January 20, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), held a New Doctoral Scientific Oration FISIP UNDIP as part of the opening of its 57th anniversary and scientific contribution to society. The event, which took place at the FIMENA Auditorium, FISIP UNDIP, was conducted in two sessions, with Session 1 carrying the overarching theme “Development and Digital Transformation in the Landscape of Communication, Business Economics, and Culture.”

The first session featured four newly graduated doctors of FISIP UNDIP who presented scholarly ideas and research findings derived from their doctoral studies at both national and international universities. These scientific orations reflected the dynamics of social change in the digital era, encompassing issues of electoral politics, religious practices, SME performance, as well as cultural sustainability and local communities.

Dr. Agus Naryoso, S.Sos., M.Si., a lecturer in Communication Science and a graduate of the Doctoral Program in Social Sciences at Universitas Diponegoro, delivered a scientific oration entitled “Overshadowed by Fear: The Culture of Political Participation in Online Communities during the 2024 Presidential–Vice Presidential Electoral Campaign.”His oration examined how fear, disinformation, and social pressure shape patterns of online political participation within the context of digital democracy.

Next, Dr. Phil. Nuriyatul Lailiyah, S.Sos., M.I.Kom, from the Department of Communication Science, who completed her doctoral studies at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, presented an oration entitled “Nahdlatul Ulama Preachers and Social Media during the Covid-19 Pandemic.” This oration highlighted the role of NU preachers in utilizing social media as a platform for religious outreach, education, and crisis mitigation during the global pandemic.

From a business and economic perspective, representing the Department of Business Administration, Dr. Robetmi Jumpakita Pinem, S.AB., MBA., Ph.D., a graduate of Kangwon National University, South Korea, delivered a scientific oration entitled “The Essential Roles of Digital Literacy, Market Intelligence, Marketing Communication, Product Innovation, and Competitive Advantage as Accelerators of SMEs’ Export Performance.” The oration emphasized the importance of digital literacy and marketing communication strategies as key determinants of SMEs’ competitiveness in the global market.

Meanwhile, issues of culture and sustainability were addressed by Dr. Titik Djumiarti, S.Sos., M.Si., a graduate of the Doctoral Program at Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW), through her scientific oration entitled “Changes in Community Livelihoods and Sustainable Development Strategies in the Sangiran Conservation Zone.” This oration discussed the challenges and strategies of sustainable development within a world cultural heritage conservation area.

Through Session 1 of the Scientific Orations of Newly Graduated Doctors, FISIP UNDIP reaffirmed its commitment to advancing social sciences that are responsive to digital transformation, relevant to societal needs, and impactful in supporting democratic development, economic growth, and cultural sustainability in Indonesia.
