Universitas Diponegoro, 29 September 2025. The International Relations Study Programme, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, once again held an Alumni Success Story event, this time inviting one of its distinguished alumni, Muhammad Fahmi Hawari Nasution, as a guest speaker. This event provided a platform for students to learn first-hand from the experiences of alumni who have pursued careers in various strategic fields, both nationally and internationally.

Muhammad Fahmi is an alumnus of the International Relations Study Programme at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, class of 2015. After completing his studies in 2019, he began his career focusing on national security and counterterrorism issues. Armed with academic knowledge, analytical skills, and organisational experience gained during his studies, Fahmi has successfully built a career in a strategic government institution that plays a direct role in maintaining the country’s security and stability.

Currently, Fahmi works as an Intelligence Analyst at the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) of the Republic of Indonesia. In his role, he is actively involved in monitoring networks and dangerous items that could potentially be used in terrorist activities, as well as assessing the potential for radicalism and extremism in society. In addition, Fahmi also contributes to the development of terrorism prevention guidelines for various ministries and educational institutions, and plays a role in campaigns to spread the values of tolerance and Pancasila to the younger generation through social media and social activities.

Through his career story, Fahmi shared how his background in international relations can be applied in the context of national security and counterterrorism. He emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration, social empathy, and understanding of global dynamics as key to success in developing a comprehensive counterterrorism strategy.

This Alumni Success Story event was inspiring and broadened students’ horizons regarding career opportunities in the security and government sectors. Through this session, the International Relations Study Programme at FISIP Undip aims to foster students’ enthusiasm for continued self-development and national contribution, while upholding the values of tolerance, professionalism, and social responsibility.
