Semarang, September 4, 2025 — The Research and Scientific Division of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University (BEM FISIP Undip 2025) successfully held the Grand Opening Research (GORe) FISIP 2025, an annual event dedicated to all new FISIP students of the 2025 cohort. The aim of this event was to serve as the initial step in research cadre development, providing foundational knowledge and understanding of the four pillars of research at Diponegoro University. The event was attended by the Vice Dean I for Academic and Student Affairs, represented by Ms. Anjani Tri Fatharini, S.IP., M.A. as Student Affairs Coordinator, Ms. Damaris Bernike Bellastuti, M.A. as the faculty advisor for BEM FISIP Undip, and Muhammad Daffa Alfirrosy, President of BEM FISIP Undip 2025.
Carrying the theme: “Unlock Potential Through Research: Ignite Innovation, Lead the Future,” GORe FISIP 2025 took place on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Prof. Soedarto, SH Building. The event ran from 07:00 to 12:00 WIB, featuring inspirational speakers. At the end of the event, an expo was held, showcasing research works from high-achieving FISIP students in hopes of enhancing the research climate, boosting student achievements, and sparking research interest among the new cohort.
The first session was delivered by Felicia Hestiawan, a Chemical Engineering student from the Faculty of Engineering and a cast member of Clash of Champions Season 2. Her presentation on writing, titled “Express the Ideas, Explore Your Future,” aimed to motivate new students to produce impactful written works and cultivate an interest in writing. The session also highlighted the importance of writing not only in academics and research but also in everyday life.
The second session, focusing on debate, was presented by Raziq Othman Ali, a student from the Faculty of Law. Under the theme “From Debate to Greatness: Growing into an Optimal University Student,” he provided an in-depth understanding of debate—emphasizing the importance of critical thinking, structuring arguments, and delivering ideas effectively. Through this session, new students were encouraged to actively participate and be bold in pursuing debate competitions, despite the challenges they may face.
GORe FISIP Undip 2025 marked the beginning of the academic journey for new students as they dive into the vast world of academia at Diponegoro University. The event is expected to foster a new generation of students who are innovative, critical, and ready to become the nation’s future leaders.
