The “Black September” (September Hitam) event, organized by the Social and Political Affairs Division of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, served as a commemoration and an effort to preserve the spirit of human rights struggles in Indonesia. The event took place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the parking area of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang. The program, designed for around 100 student participants, adopted an open-stage concept featuring diverse artistic expressions such as speeches, poetry readings, songs, and theatrical performances—all highlighting themes of democracy and the defense of human rights. Through this event, the organizers aimed to recall the tragic events that occurred in September, such as the assassination of Munir Said Thalib and the 1965 G30S incident, while raising collective awareness of the importance of respecting human rights to prevent similar tragedies from recurring. In addition to the open-stage performances, representatives from five student associations of various study programs within FISIP UNDIP also contributed to the event. A literacy booth was also provided in collaboration with Taraxacum, offering a space for reading and reflection. Participants and attendees were encouraged to wear all-black attire as a symbolic gesture of remembrance, embodying the spirit of struggle and the values of humanity.
The “Black September” event proceeded smoothly, beginning promptly at 3:00 PM and concluding before 5:30 PM on the same day. The program, held in the parking area of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, attracted more than 100 students—exceeding the initial target. The high level of enthusiasm was evident from the strong attendance and active participation of students throughout the event.***
