Semarang, February 22, 2025 – The FISIP Undip Student Deliberation 2025 was officially convened on February 22, 2025, bringing together various student organizations, including the Student Senate (Senat Mahasiswa), the Student Executive Board of FISIP (BEM FISIP), and Departmental Student Associations (HMPS). This forum served as a platform for conveying aspirations and formulating strategic student issues. The results of the deliberation were then brought to an audience meeting with the Dean’s Office to obtain responses and follow-up actions.

During the deliberation, several key issues were successfully summarized. First, concerning the Smoke-Free Area (Kawasan Tanpa Rokok/KTR) policy, which was deemed unclear and lacking in socialization. The forum requested a review of this policy. In response, the Dean’s Office affirmed that the KTR regulation is absolute but remains open to student input regarding the scope of its implementation.

The second issue pertained to the administrative status of the Rembang PSDKU Campus. Students proposed that the Student Executive Board (BEM), Student Senate (SM), and Student Association (HMPS) of Public Administration in Rembang champion the clarity of its administrative position at the university level. The Dean’s Office explained that the decree (SK) establishing this status has been in effect since 2024, with a division of affairs: academic and student affairs under FISIP, while facilities and infrastructure are under PSDKU. Rembang students were advised to coordinate directly with their study program (prodi), BEM, and Senate.

In addition, strengthening the climate of achievement is also a concern. Students emphasized the importance of equitable achievement facilities across all study programs. The Dean’s Office stated that information on achievement funds has been announced on official social media and suggested holding a forum (sarasehan) for further discussion, including credit conversion (konversi SKS) regulated by Rector’s Decree and the Ministry.

Regarding the issue of sexual violence and the Perma KS, students urged the acceleration of ratification for rules at the faculty level. The Dean’s Office supported this step, with the stipulation that it must not deviate from higher legal regulations.

Concerning Single Tuition Fee (UKT) appeals, students requested an active role for BEM in assisting and informing students about scholarships. The Dean’s Office recommended that the advocacy unit (advokesma) of each HMPS facilitate student constraints and hold socialization forums on the UKT appeal mechanism to ensure greater transparency.

Related to the International Undergraduate Program (IUP), students complained about suboptimal facilities. The Dean’s Office explained that FISIP is still in a transitional period, so facilities for IUP and regular students are similar; however, IUP students are welcome to voice their complaints in a hearing forum.

The final issue was concerning permits for overnight and out-of-town activities. The deliberation stressed the need for clear regulations and faculty advisor accompaniment. The dean’s office stated that permission would be granted as long as the activity had clear benefits, a well-organized process, and was accountable.

This series of student deliberations and audience meetings demonstrates a shared commitment between students and the Dean’s Office to build a more participatory and responsive academic climate. The forum also serves as a constructive dialogue space to ensure faculty policies not only adhere to formal regulations but also accommodate the real needs of students.***
