Semarang (04/16) – In an era of globalization and increasingly intense international competition, enhancing international capacity in higher education has become an urgent necessity. The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro is taking a strategic role in addressing this challenge through its International Undergraduate Program (IUP)—an internationally oriented bachelor’s program designed to produce globally competitive graduates equipped for cross-border academic experiences.

As part of the university’s new student admission process, FISIP Undip participated in the Independent Entrance Examination (Ujian Mandiri) for the IUP Program, which was held over two days on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 15–16, 2025. The selection process consisted of a Scholastic Aptitude Test (TPS) on the first day, followed by an English-language interview on the second day. Applicants competed for admission into four IUP-offering study programs: Public Administration, Government Studies, Communication Science, and Business Administration.

In an interview with the FISIP Undip Media Team, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, S Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., MCommSt., PhD., explained that while there are no specific academic prerequisites for applying to the IUP selection, the process is conducted rigorously, assessing candidates’ academic competence and English proficiency. “They must also be prepared because one of the graduation requirements for the IUP program is participation in an International Mobility Program,” Rouli noted, referring to the IUP students’ obligation to undertake a one-semester study abroad program.

Rouli further emphasized that financial readiness is also an important consideration for prospective students. In addition to supporting a smooth study experience abroad, such preparedness also reflects the students’ commitment to participating in an international program that demands independence and openness to cultural diversity.

When asked about the facilities available to IUP students, Rouli pointed out that there are differences from the regular program, including the use of dedicated classrooms and plans for an exclusive area in a new building currently under preparation. Nevertheless, she stressed that inclusivity remains a guiding principle.

“We also don’t want them to become exclusive. We avoid exclusivity by requiring them to take part in student organizations and to interact with others because soft skills are developed together—when they can communicate with everyone,” she emphasized.

The official results of the FISIP Undip IUP Independent Entrance Examination will be announced on April 30, 2025, via the website https://pmb.undip.ac.id. Through this selection process, FISIP Undip aims to recruit top-tier prospective students who are ready to grow as global citizens and become agents of change who will proudly represent the institution on the international stage.
