Semarang—Department of Community Service (Dimas) Student Association of Communication Science Program (HMPS Ilkom) Diponegoro University successfully held the Communication Science Sharing Room (RUBIK) work program in the form of socialization themed “Digitalization of Marketing” in Ngadikerso Village, Ambarawa on October 9, 2021. This socialization is a collaboration program with the Undip FISIP Wiradesa Team.

The Head of the Dimas HMPS Ilkom Department as well as a Communication Studies 2019, Michael Lucky Ananda, admitted that the preparation of this socialization program was assisted by the Undip FISIP Wiradesa Team which involved village officials and farmer group leaders in Ngadikerso Village. Michael’s statement was supported by the Chief Executive of RUBIK 2021, Akmal Muzakki, a student of Communication Studies class 2020.

“Our own preparation is to go back and forth to the village four to five times. We talked with the head of the hamlet and the head of the farmer group, as well as the consul on how to convey the material to the women of the farmer group because our theme of ‘Digitalization of Marketing’ needs to be adapted to the situation in the village where it is still difficult to access the internet,” added Akmal.

In addition to the difficulty of internet access, another obstacle experienced during the implementation of this program was the distance and readiness of the location. Based on Michael’s statement, on the D-day, the location that has been determined to hold this socialization is used to hold a posyandu so that inevitably the RUBIK 2021 event will be postponed until noon.

“Besides, it’s even more difficult if you don’t have an RKAT online, so there’s your own contribution from DIMAS to pay for all your needs during RUBIK,” said Michael.

The socialization was carried out by presenting simple materials in front of the farmers in Ngadikerso Village who trade opaque and snacks. The material was delivered directly by Dimas members who received a positive response where many residents were enthusiastic about listening to the material and did not hesitate to ask questions because they had never received this material before.

Although the event was a success and received a positive response, Akmal admitted that he felt something was missing from RUBIK this year. According to him, this year’s event is very segmented because the theme obtained from the FISIP Wiradesa Team is too specific. Meanwhile, in previous years the RUBIK program was more diverse, one of which was teaching children.

Nevertheless, Akmal hopes that in the future RUBIK can continue to synergize in various aspects, not limited to socialization activities of material, but also other forms of action that are beneficial to the village community. Michael also agrees, he hopes that in the future the implementation of the RUBIK program can be better and shared in more places and more people.

“Devotion is indeed the goal so that we can help the community, we have knowledge and experience from the Communication Studies study program, why don’t we share it with other people who may also need our knowledge,” concluded Michael.
