Semarang (04/07) – The leaders of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Diponegoro (FISIP UNDIP), led by Dean Teguh Yuwono, attended the “Public Diplomacy Goes to Campus” event, featuring a screening of the documentary “12 Mile: Guiding the Archipelago”, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the ICT Building of Universitas Diponegoro.
FISIP UNDIP was represented by Vice Dean I Rouli Manalu, Vice Dean II Prof. Ika Riswanti Putranti, Heads of Departments, Heads of Study Programs, and all International Undergraduate Program (IUP) Coordinators. Their presence reflects the faculty’s commitment to engaging with global issues, particularly in public diplomacy and international relations.
The event opened with remarks from the university leadership, delivered on behalf of the Rector by the Vice Rector I,Prof. Heru Susanto, emphasizing the role of higher education in fostering global perspectives.
A keynote speech was delivered by Ani Nigeriawati, Director of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and an alumna of the Communication Science Program at FISIP UNDIP. She highlighted public diplomacy as a key instrument of Indonesia’s soft power in strengthening its global position.

The event also featured Heru H. Subolo, Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy, and Gulardi Nurbintoro, Deputy Director of Territorial Law and Treaties, who discussed Indonesia’s diplomatic strategies, particularly in maritime contexts.
Serving as discussant, Vice Dean II, Prof. Ika Riswanti Putranti, delivered an academic analysis of the documentary, connecting its themes with broader perspectives in social and political sciences.

The documentary “12 Mile: Guiding the Archipelago” highlights Indonesia’s maritime diplomacy, particularly the role of soft power in safeguarding national sovereignty.
Dean Teguh Yuwono stated that the event plays an important role in strengthening the faculty’s internationalization efforts.
“This initiative is important for strengthening the internationalization of FISIP UNDIP, especially in Communication and International Relations. It also contributes to enhancing our institutional reputation, particularly as one of our alumni now serves as Director of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he stated.
The discussion was moderated by Robetmi Jumpakita Pinem, Secretary of the Undergraduate Business Administration Program, fostering active engagement between speakers and participants.
