Semarang – March 5, 2026 – The Department of Politics and Government, FISIP UNDIP, in collaboration with the Central Java Kesbangpol Agency (National Unity and Politics Agency), organized the “Ngabuburit Kebangsaan” (Nationalism Iftar Gathering) activity with the theme: Strengthening Nationalism, Reinforcing Moderation at the FIMENA Auditorium, 3rd Floor, Building A, FISIP UNDIP. This activity was attended by teachers and students from SMAN 9 Semarang, SMKN 11 Semarang, SMA Hidayatullah Semarang, and SMK Hidayah Semarang. The event began with the singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya.
The host’s remarks from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, were delivered by the Head of the Department of Politics and Government, FISIP UNDIP, Dr. Nur Hidayat Sardini, who emphasized the importance of the role of higher education in instilling national awareness and strengthening the values of moderation and tolerance among the younger generation. This was followed by remarks and the official opening of the event by the Head of the Central Java Kesbangpol Agency, represented by the Head of the Division for Ideology, National Insight, and National Character, Drs. Muhammad Agung Hikmati, who conveyed the importance of strengthening national insight and ideological literacy to prevent the spread of radicalism among teenagers.
The activity then continued with a session sharing experiences on the spirit of nationalism from a global perspective, where international students from Vietnam and Russia, as well as students from the IUP global exchange program at FISIP UNDIP who had carried out cultural missions to various countries such as Italy, South Korea, and Hungary, shared their experiences in introducing Indonesian culture on the international stage while interpreting national identity amidst global interaction.
The main event continued with the screening of the documentary film “Road to Resilience,” which tells the true story of Febri Ramdani, a former survivor of radical ideology who was once in Syria and has now returned to Indonesia, documenting his experiences in the book “300 Hari di Bumi Syam” (300 Days in the Land of Sham). After the film screening, the activity continued with a talk show moderated by Faiz Kasyfilham, S.I.P., M.A., a lecturer at the Department of Politics and Government, FISIP UNDIP. The speakers included Febri Ramdani, who shared his experience about the radicalization process and the importance of returning to national values; Kompol Lugito Gofar from the Central Java Regional Task Force of Densus 88 AT Polri, who explained the evolving models of radical ideological infiltration among teenagers; and Dr. Sos. Drs. Muhammad Adnan, M.A., an academic from FISIP UNDIP and also the caretaker of the Semarang Kebangsaan Islamic Boarding School, who explained the importance of religious moderation and strengthening nationalism for the younger generation. The discussion was interactive, with various questions from participants regarding strategies for preventing radicalism, the importance of digital literacy, and the role of schools and families in building the national character of the younger generation.
The “Ngabuburit Kebangsaan” activity then concluded with a joint reflection and continued with an iftar gathering, which served as a moment to strengthen togetherness among the speakers, students, teachers, and the participating students. Through this activity, FISIP UNDIP hopes to continue contributing to strengthening national awareness, moderation, and the ideological resilience of the younger generation as part of efforts to maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
