Semarang, February 27, 2026 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University (FISIP Undip) has once again reaffirmed its commitment as a globally oriented faculty by organizing the 2026 International Student Gathering with the theme “The Orange Harbor: Anchoring Global Cultures at Diponegoro.” This event served as a warm, inclusive, and spirited cross-cultural meeting space.

The event opened with a captivating Gambang Semarang dance performance, presenting a touch of local wisdom as a symbol of welcome for international students. The activity was officially opened by the Dean of FISIP Undip, Teguh Yuwono, who in his speech expressed appreciation and pride for the presence of students from various corners of the world.

“Welcome and thank you to all who have attended, from west to east. You have made this faculty increasingly vibrant. Not only us as locals, but also international students from various countries enrich the academic and cultural dynamics at FISIP,” he stated.

On this occasion, the Dean also introduced students from each country as well as the study program managers within FISIP Undip, emphasizing comprehensive academic support and mentoring for all students, both national and international.

The event was attended by the academic community of FISIP Undip and 20 international students currently pursuing studies at FISIP. They come from Russia, Germany, Vietnam, Madagascar, Pakistan, China, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Gambia. These students are enrolled in the S1 Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, and Doctoral Program in Social Sciences.

The international atmosphere became even more palpable when students from Russia performed their country’s distinctive songs and dances. They also introduced various aspects of Russian culture, from traditional food, dances, traditions, to typical clothing. Attendees even had the opportunity to taste dishes brought directly from Russia, making this session not only informative but also interactive and tantalizing.

Equally captivating, students from Vietnam and Madagascar also performed traditional songs from their respective countries, adding to the musical richness and strengthening the sense of brotherhood among nations.

In a session sharing impressions of Indonesia, the international students expressed their positive experiences while studying at FISIP Undip. Many admitted to enjoying Indonesia’s richly flavored cuisine. In fact, some students conveyed that Indonesia, particularly the city of Semarang, is a safe and comfortable place to study and live.

The event continued with a communal meal that was filled with camaraderie. The students appeared to enjoy the provided dishes, reflecting a spirit of togetherness without cultural barriers. The event then concluded with a Kahoot game involving all international students, bringing joy as a memorable closing.

Through the 2026 International Student Gathering, FISIP Undip once again demonstrates concrete proof that FISIP Undip continues to strengthen its international network and present an educational experience that is not only academically excellent but also culturally rich.
