Semarang, December 4, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Diponegoro University once again held the FISIP Undip Alumni Success Story program, an inspirational space that delves into alumni study journeys, early career struggles, and contributions across various strategic fields. In this edition, FISIP Undip featured Adelia Prihastuti, S.I.P., an alumna of the Government Science program class of 2015 (graduated 2019), who currently serves as a Civil Service Human Resources Analyst at the Semarang District Court, Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia.
In an interview session with host Rifka Resi Pawestri, Adelia expressed both nostalgia and pride at being able to return to campus after six years. She recalled the academic atmosphere that shaped her resilience, while also appreciating the increasingly modern development of facilities and the learning environment.
Career Journey: From Journalist to Supreme Court RI Civil Servant
Adelia recounted that after graduating in August 2019, she briefly started a career as a journalist at a media outlet. However, the opportunity of the 2019 Civil Servant Candidate (CPNS) recruitment led her to make a major decision: resigning to focus on studying. The challenge intensified as the selection process occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic, which resulted in longer intervals between selection stages and demanded consistent preparation.
Interestingly, Adelia shared that the Supreme Court was not her initial first choice. Driven by an interest in anti-corruption issues and a desire to contribute to a system that upholds integrity, she chose a career path at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia. She applied for the cum laude pathway for the Civil Service Human Resources Analyst position—a highly competitive formation with a very limited quota and competition across various disciplines. Through the Computer-Based Selection Test (SKD) and Competency Selection Test (SKB) which she approached with discipline, meticulousness, and a calm mindset, Adelia successfully achieved the best result.
Academic Foundation: Anti-Corruption Policy and the Merit System
Adelia also highlighted the most memorable academic experience during her studies, one of which was the Anti-Corruption Policy course, which she believes shaped her value orientation and career path. In her current work, Adelia emphasizes the importance of maintaining integrity, professionalism, and the merit system in civil service human resources management.
As a Civil Service Human Resources Analyst, the scope of Adelia’s work includes promotions, retirements, disciplinary enforcement, as well as the promotion and transfer of judges and employees. She stated that this work requires high precision and firmness, while still being grounded in ethics and regulations. In practice, civil service human resources are not immune from potential conflicts of interest, making personal integrity and compliance with regulations the fundamental foundation.
Message for Students: Master Regulations, Build Integrity, and Communicate Effectively
In the insight session, Adelia shared three important skills for students, especially in Government Science, who wish to pursue careers in the public sector:
-
The ability to read and understand regulations (Government Regulations, Ministerial Decrees, SOPs) quickly and accurately.
-
Integrity and professionalism to face pressures and temptations in the workplace.
-
Effective cross-generational communication, especially within the context of a bureaucracy that intersects with digitalization and dynamic work cultures.
She also expressed her hope that the FISIP Undip alumni network would grow stronger through inspirational programs like the Alumni Success Story, enabling students to gain a realistic picture of the diverse careers of alumni and be encouraged to contribute to better bureaucratic reform.
Concluding the interview session, Adelia left a strong message for students: university is not just about GPA, but a process of building a patient, committed, and resilient character. She emphasized the importance of having the courage to always do what is right, uphold honesty, and remain humble in every phase of life.
The FISIP Undip Alumni Success Story program is expected to continue serving as a bridge of inspiration, strengthening alumni networks, and a cross-generational learning space for the academic community to expand the impact of FISIP Undip on society and the nation.
