Semarang, November 21, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Diponegoro University once again presented the Undip Alumni Success Story program, an inspirational sharing space that highlights alumni career journeys from the university bench to the professional world. In this edition, FISIP Undip featured Yusuf Manggala Adityatama, S.A.P., professionally known as Yus Adityya, an alumnus of the Public Administration Department, class of 2013, who graduated in 2017.

In a discussion session moderated by Rahma Ayu Nadya Safira, A.Md.Li., S.S., Yus Adityya shared his non-linear, process-filled career journey. Since his university days, he instilled the principle that students should not only focus on academics but also need to actively build their capacities. During his studies at FISIP Undip, he developed his interest and talent in communication and public speaking through the world of broadcasting as a radio and television presenter, which he pursued concurrently with his studies.

After graduating in 2017, Yus Adityya recounted a transitional phase that was not always smooth. He did not immediately secure permanent employment and chose to continue developing himself in the communication field, while also exploring various career opportunities, including taking part in civil servant (ASN) selection processes. He admitted this journey was full of challenges and failures, requiring him to attempt the selection several times before finally succeeding.

“It was the ups and downs that ultimately shaped me. From failure, I learned to evaluate myself, improve my shortcomings, and prepare more thoroughly,” he stated.

Alongside his formal career, Yus Adityya continued to hone his public speaking as a professional Master of Ceremony (MC). For him, communication skills are not just about performing on stage but also about preparedness, discipline, and the ability to read situations. He emphasized that preparation and self-evaluation are the main keys in every role he undertakes, both in the professional world and in the public sphere.

In his reflection, Yus Adityya affirmed that his Public Administration background provided a strong foundational mindset for understanding organizational processes, policy, and communication with the public. Various courses such as public management, public policy, organizational analysis, and organizational ethics were deemed relevant in shaping a systematic, adaptive, and integrity-driven way of thinking.

He also emphasized the core values Public Administration graduates should possess: integrity, ethics, leadership, and the courage to continuously learn and grow. In his view, failure is an inseparable part of a career journey and should not be a barrier to moving forward.

Concluding the discussion session, Yus Adityya conveyed a message to students and prospective students, urging them not to be solely oriented towards graduation but to also actively build soft skills, broaden their experiences, and courageously take up space in the public domain.

“Don’t just attend university; build yourself. Hone your abilities, don’t be afraid to fail, and don’t hesitate to step into the public eye. The world needs ideas and contributions from young people,” was his message.

Through the Undip Alumni Success Story program, FISIP Undip remains committed to presenting inspiring alumni stories as practical lessons for students in preparing themselves to face a dynamic and competitive workforce.
