Semarang, (21/09). In order to foster a research culture and introduce the world of research early to new students, the Department of Scientific and Socio-Political Research of the Public Administration Student Association (HMPS-AP) at Universitas Diponegoro held Research School 1 on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the 5th floor of the UNDIP ICT Building.

This event served as an introductory research program specifically designed for the 2025 batch of new students. Its goal was to equip participants with a basic understanding of scientific research and to introduce them to the four main pillars that form the foundation of research.

Research School 1 began with an opening session and welcoming remarks from the Head of the Organizing Committee, the Vice Chair of HMPS Public Administration (representing the Chair), and the Head of the Undergraduate Public Administration Study Program. The event continued with an interactive seminar themed “The Research Path Toward Progressive Students” delivered by Mrs. Nilam Adini Rakhma, M.A.P., who discussed the importance of research for progressive students, and Mohammad Imam Turmudhi, who presented the technical aspects of writing a Student Creativity Program (PKM) proposal under the topic “Writing Practice for PKM-RSH and PKM-PM: From Idea to Proposal.”

After the seminar, participants were divided into several groups to join Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) held in two sessions. Each group was asked to draft an outline for either a PKM-RSH or PKM-PM proposal based on their understanding of the seminar materials.

Alongside the FGDs, several participant groups were also directed to visit the four research pillars booths prepared by the committee. These booths provided in-depth and interactive information about the Science and Technology Pillar, Research and Innovation Pillar, Language and Literacy Pillar, and Scientific Writing Pillar. The booths offered a concrete and visual representation of research-based achievement pathways that students could pursue in the future.

Through this event, new students are expected not only to understand the basics of research but also to be motivated to actively participate in scientific activities on campus. Research School 1 serves as a strategic first step toward creating a generation of students who are critical thinkers, solution-oriented, and academically accomplished.
