Semarang (27/02) – The International Affairs Unit (UUI) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) organized a Socialization Event for the Students Go International (SGI) Program on Wednesday, February 27, 2025, via Zoom Meeting. This event aimed to provide FISIP Undip students with an understanding of and opportunities to participate in international mobility programs, as part of efforts to enhance global exposure and support Undip’s vision as a World Class University (WCU). The event featured internal speakers from FISIP Undip, including Muhammad Faiq Adi Pratomo, S.I.P., M.Sc. (Vice Chair of UUI FISIP Undip) and Athar Alimmudin, M.B.A. (Member of UUI FISIP Undip).
In her opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FISIP Undip, S. Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., MCommSt., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of the SGI program in enhancing students’ international exposure. “This is our effort to increase the exposure of our university to the outside world so that we can join the ranks of reputable universities,” she stated. She also explained that the SGI program provides students with funding opportunities for international mobility, both for short-term and long-term activities. “This is the faculty’s effort to give students the chance to gain international exposure,” she added.
Muhammad Faiq Adi Pratomo, S.I.P., M.Sc., provided a detailed explanation of the SGI program, covering funding targets, participant requirements, and proposal formats and administration. He explained that SGI is a funding support initiative for Universitas Diponegoro students participating in international activities, whether conducted abroad or online. Supported activities include international competitions, international seminars, international summer courses, as well as internship programs, including fieldwork and research.
Meanwhile, Athar Alimmudin, M.B.A., presented various alternative programs that students can participate in, such as the Summer Session at the University of California, Berkeley, the Fulbright Global UGRAD in the United States, the Taiwan Internship TEEP in Taiwan, Jasso in Japan, and the Inha Summer School in Korea. This presentation provided a broad overview of the international opportunities accessible to FISIP Undip students.
During the Q&A session, participants showed high enthusiasm by asking about the SGI program’s terms, competition levels, and the best time to apply. This socialization event is expected to motivate FISIP Undip students to actively participate in international programs, thereby enhancing their competencies and global networks. Thus, the SGI program not only supports individual student achievements but also contributes to elevating Undip’s reputation on the international stage.
