Semarang, February 17, 2025 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) received a special visit from the Class of 1975 alumni, who celebrated 50 years of togetherness. The event was a warm and heartfelt occasion, as the alumni returned to their beloved alma mater to reminisce about their journey and strengthen their bonds with the FISIP Undip academic community.

The event began with a speech from the representative of the 1975 alumni, Mr. Sigit Marhaen, who expressed pride and joy in returning to the campus after half a century. As a mark of respect and a symbol of unity, the 1975 alumni presented a Pataka (ceremonial banner) along with the red-and-white Indonesian flag to FISIP Undip, following the will of the late Committee Chairman, Mr. Edi Santoso. In military tradition, the Pataka symbolizes troops gathering under command. In this context, the alumni likened themselves to troops returning to FISIP to gather and pay respects to their commander, the Dean of FISIP, Dr. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin.

The Pataka was handed over by Mr. Warsito, Mr. Marwan, and Mr. Sumedi. As part of the symbolic tradition, Mr. Sigit Marhaen wore a sash entrusted by the late Mr. Edi, which was then presented to the Dean of FISIP as a gesture of respect and to strengthen the bond between the alumni and the institution.

In his speech, Dr. Teguh Yuwono expressed deep appreciation for the presence of the alumni and their contributions to the development of FISIP Undip. He emphasized that the progress achieved by FISIP, including its leap in global rankings from the top 1000 in 2019 to the top 500 in 2022, was not the result of individual efforts alone but the result of a long history, strong leadership, and the collaborative and collective spirit of the entire academic community and alumni.

The event concluded with a discussion between the alumni and FISIP Undip lecturers, serving as a platform for sharing experiences, reflections, and discussions about the role of alumni in supporting the faculty’s future development. This moment further strengthened the connection between the older and younger generations in a spirit of unity and dedication to the advancement of FISIP Undip.
