Semarang, February 13, 2025 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) successfully held the 2025 Student Exchange Seminar titled Study Abroad and Exchange Opportunity at Università degli Studi di Napoli L’Orientale. The event featured prominent speakers, including Prof. Antonia Soriente (University of Naples L’Orientale, Italy), S Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., MCommSt., PhD. (Vice Dean I of FISIP Undip), and Aniello Iannone, M.Sos. (Lecturer at FISIP Undip), moderated by Bangkit A. Wiryawan, S.Sos., M.A., Ph.D. (Chair of the International Office of FISIP Undip).
The Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., opened the event by expressing appreciation to Prof. Antonia Soriente for the student exchange opportunities offered. “This is an extraordinary opportunity for students from various academic backgrounds, whether in communication, business, or public administration, to broaden their academic horizons in Italy. This collaboration reflects the University of Naples L’Orientale’s commitment to strengthening international relations with Undip,” he said.
In her presentation, Prof. Antonia Soriente emphasized the importance of studying abroad. “As educators, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the results of our efforts. Providing students with the opportunity to study abroad is an investment in their future. The University of Naples L’Orientale is a centre for Eastern studies, initially established for research on China but now expanding to include Asian-African studies, social sciences, political science, languages, and literature,” she explained.
Meanwhile, S Rouli Manalu, PhD., elaborated on the Credit Transfer System (CTS), its requirements, and available student exchange schemes. With this system, students can easily align their academic credits while participating in exchange programs at the University of Naples L’Orientale.
The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session between students and the speakers. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident from the numerous questions regarding the exchange program registration schedule, opportunities, and challenges of studying abroad. Through this seminar, it is hoped that more FISIP Undip students will be motivated to pursue international academic and cultural experiences through student exchange programs.
