Semarang (10/30) – Inter-faculty study visits are a vital step toward strengthening collaboration and learning in efforts to improve the quality of education and accreditation. This is especially relevant for meeting evolving national and international academic standards. Embracing this spirit, the Faculty of Communication Science (FIKOM) of Universitas Esa Unggul (UEU) visited the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, where they were warmly welcomed by FISIP Undip representatives.
The FIKOM UEU delegation, led by FIKOM Dean, Dr. Erna Febriani, S.Si., M.Si., was accompanied by FIKOM Vice Dean, Ballian Siregar, M.Si., Head of the Master’s Program, Ruslan Ramli, Ph.D., and Head of the Undergraduate Program, Euis Nurul Bahriyah, SE, M.Si. The group was formally welcomed in the FISIP Undip Senate Meeting Room by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FISIP Undip, S. Rouli Manalu, S.Sos., M.Comm.St., Ph.D., along with the administrators and faculty members of the Communication Science Department at FISIP Undip.
In her opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FISIP Undip expressed appreciation for the visit from FIKOM UEU and highlighted the important role of Undip, especially FISIP, as a state university with legal entity status (PTN-BH) in achieving established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). He also underscored Undip’s vigorous internationalization efforts aimed at achieving a position as a globally recognized university. “Our curriculum has been adjusted according to Regulation No. 53 of 2023, which outlines various changes, including that a thesis is not the only form of a final project, and there are adjustments related to competencies,” she explained. She further noted that the changes serve as guidelines for curriculum updates and KPIs.
Meanwhile, Dr. Erna Febriani, Dean of FIKOM UEU, in her remarks, conveyed the primary purpose of this visit, which was to conduct benchmarking in preparation for accreditation to achieve an Excellent rating for both the undergraduate and graduate programs at FIKOM UEU. Additionally, FIKOM UEU sought to learn more about how FISIP Undip achieves its KPI targets and explore potential collaborations between faculties, departments, and study programs. “Our main purpose here is to engage in a process of learning and receiving feedback, to hold discussions, as the boundaries for collaboration between public and private universities have now become more open,” Dr. Erna stated.
During the discussions, the two faculties addressed various relevant topics, including curriculum development, graduate profiles, and other academic aspects. This study visit is expected to foster constructive collaboration between FIKOM UEU and FISIP Undip to advance together in meeting quality educational standards.
