SEMARANG—In the framework of the 67th Anniversary, Diponegoro University held a Band Competition on Thursday (17/10/2024), which was attended by the entire Undip academic community. This competition was attended by 14 participants from the Lecturer and Tendik category and 7 participants from the student category, each of whom performed a mainstay song with the theme “Pengentasan Kemiskinan dan Ketahanan Pangan.” The event occurred at Prof. Sudarto Building, S.H, Undip Tembalang Campus.
In his remarks, the Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si, highly appreciated this band competition event because this was the first time Undip held a band competition to celebrate its 67th Anniversary. Not just a speech, Prof. Suharnomo also showed his skills by singing the song “Hanya Ingin Kau Tahu” by Repvblik Band. The song was even more lively when combined with dangdut accompaniment, making the audience sway to the front of the stage.
In the student category, the band from Fisip, Sakutala, won first place, beating bands from other faculties. Sakutala performed the old song “Rumah Kita” by God Bless. The band is composed of Rafael Etantyo from Communication Studies 2024, Rajata Wahidsyah Tahier from Government Studies 2023, Alexandra Blatnick from Government Studies 2023, Muhammad Rifqy Maulana Blatnick from Government Studies 2023, Ahmad Jusuf Lukman from Business Administration 2023, Mochamad Najril Ubaidillah from Business Administration 2024, Indrasta Alif Yudistira from Government Science 2022, Shanaz Nailahanifah from Business Administration 2023, Pradipto Aryo Wismoyo from Public Administration 2024, Ilham Akbar Widyatama from Communication Science 2022, Felix Junhan from Government Science 2022, and Alfatih Aryo Seto from Communication Science 2023 successfully amazed the audience with extraordinary performances. Uniquely, they also used items such as musical instruments. They utilized used cans, plastic drink bottles, and other tools. The use of used goods is also an assessment by the jury.
Several elements are used to judge the band competition, namely the compliance of musical instruments from used goods, the presence of UNDIP lyrics, personnel cohesiveness and musical harmonization, performance (stage action, interaction, etc.), and the beauty of music (artistic value). The judges of this band competition were deliberately taken from outside the campus, namely UNNES, to maintain the committee’s neutrality.
Using used goods as musical instruments is a form of Fisip’s concern for the environment by recycling waste that is difficult to decompose. This is also a form of innovation and creativity in design and in producing unique and exciting sounds.
According to Dr. Muhammad Luqman Hakim, S.T., the committee’s chairman, this event aims to maintain cohesiveness among lecturers, staff, and students and make inter-faculty more solid despite competition.
