Fisip Achieves 2nd Place in Carnival Competition in the 67th Anniversary Celebration of Undip

Semarang- In the top of the 67th anniversary celebration of Diponegoro University, Fisip successfully won the 2nd place in the carnival competition last Tuesday (15/10). The event took place with a route from Dipo Hub to the Widya Puraya field and ended at the Prof. Soedharto, S.H. Building, Undip Tembalang Campus.

Undip Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, SE., M.Si. and Vice Rector II for Human Resources, Dr. Warsito Kawedar, S.E., M.Si., Akt. directly presented appreciation prizes to the FISIP representatives in the form of a sponsorship fund of Rp 7,000,000 and a television set.

The carnival’s theme, “Synergy of Diponegoro’s Troops’ Strides in Eradicating Poverty, Towards a Society with Sustainable Food Security,” was portrayed by FISIP’s 100 participants, including the Vice Dean II, manager, supervisor, lecturers, administrative staffs, and students. They showcased a parade of traditional Indonesian costumes, costumes of Prince Diponegoro, recycled plastic material creations, supported by props and musical instruments made from recycled materials. The entire academic community of FISIP Undip also participated as supporters when the FISIP carnival parade appeared in front of the Rector and his staff.

The chosen theme and concept of the carnival embody the philosophy of collaboration, fighting spirit, and sustainability in addressing socio-economic challenges, especially in the areas of poverty and food security. The figure of Prince Diponegoro symbolizes steadfast spirit and discipline, as demonstrated in his fight against colonialism. The term “Derap Langkah” depicts speed, order, and togetherness in eradicating poverty.

Overall, the performance of FISIP Undip’s carnival parade depicts a collective vision to build a more prosperous, self-reliant, and resilient society. It is hoped that collaboratively, sustainable food security can be realized.
