Semarang (12/08) – The Opening Ceremony for the 2024 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) and Character Education (Pendikar) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), officially commenced on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the FISIP Undip Campus in Tembalang. The event underscored the importance of emulating the qualities of Prince Diponegoro, known for his fighting spirit and dedication, as a reflection for new students to make Undip a dignified and beneficial institution for the nation.

This year’s Opening Ceremony of PKKMB and Pendikar FISIP Undip was celebrated with greater enthusiasm compared to previous years. The well-organized series of events was also attended by the Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation at Undip, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., along with the Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., and other faculty leaders.

In her report, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of FISIP Undip, Ibu S Rouli Manalu, Ph.D., introduced the 2024 cohort of FISIP Undip’s new students, totalling 1,298 individuals, consisting of 1,181 undergraduate students and 117 postgraduate students. These students were admitted through various selection paths, including SNBP, SNBT, and Independent Examinations. She emphasized that the PKKMB and Pendikar activities aim to provide insights into campus life and equip students with the character needed in an academic environment.

“Be students who are goal-oriented, students who excel, students who can prove yourselves, and students who make your parents, families, and alma mater proud,” she advised the new FISIP Undip students of 2024.

Furthermore, the Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., in his remarks, highlighted several significant achievements of FISIP Undip. The faculty has successfully ranked within the top 500+ globally according to the QS World University Rankings and has also been recognized as the No. 1 campus with the fastest alumni employment rate based on the QS Ranking for Employability 2021-2022. Additionally, FISIP Undip is ranked 2nd nationally according to EduRank 2024. FISIP Undip also boasts eight study programs accredited internationally by FIBAA, with most other programs having been accredited as “Excellent” by BAN-PT. He also highlighted various national and international achievements of FISIP Undip students and introduced various internationalization programs and world-class facilities available within FISIP Undip.

Additionally, the logo and mascot used in this year’s PKKMB and Pendikar FISIP Undip are “Antawirya Puruhita.” “Antawirya” was the name of Prince Diponegoro in his youth, while “Puruhita” is a term derived from Javanese-Sanskrit meaning “Ngangsu kawruh” or “learning” or “seeking knowledge.” The Antawirya Puruhita logo symbolizes the youthful spirit of Diponegoro, driven by a strong desire for knowledge for the advancement of humanity. This logo is dedicated to the 2024 freshmen, encouraging them to embody noble values throughout their academic journey at FISIP Undip.

The event was further enlivened by performances from the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Sakutala and representatives of FISIP Undip lecturers, adding to the excitement and pride of all the participants present.
