Regent of Kendal Attends the 175th Graduation Ceremony of FISIP Undip: The First Session Was Full of Inspiration

Semarang (07/30) – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) held the 175th Graduation Ceremony (Session 1) on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the Auditorium Room of FISIP Undip, Building A, 3rd Floor, Tembalang. This event was made special by the presence of the Regent of Kendal, Dico M Ganinduto, B.Sc, as one of the graduation candidates from the Master’s Program in Political Science, along with his wife, Wynne Frederica, who is also a graduation candidate from the same program.

The first session of the Graduation Ceremony was attended by graduation candidates from the Undergraduate Program in Government Studies, the Master’s Program in Political Science, and the Doctoral Program in Social Sciences. According to the Academic Activity Report delivered by the Vice Dean for Resources of FISIP Undip, Ika Riswanti Putranti, S.H., M.H., Ph.D., there were a total of 94 graduation candidates in this first session, consisting of 6 doctoral candidates in Social Sciences, 15 master’s candidates in Political Science, and 73 undergraduate candidates in Government Studies. She also shared brief messages with the graduating students. “Always strive to be beneficial to others and do good for the universe,” she advised. Additionally, she quoted Ibnu Al-Mubarak RA, saying, “Having good manners, even if little, is more necessary for us than having much knowledge.”

During this graduation ceremony, the Message and Impression from the Graduates were represented by Yazid Suhada Jaelani, a graduating student from the Undergraduate Program in Government Studies, who was also the President of the FISIP Undip Student Executive Board (BEM) for the 2023 period and the Chair of the Government Studies Student Association (HMPS) for the 2022 period. In his speech, Yazid quoted from a book by Pramoedya Ananta Toer that he often read, “An educated person must be able to think justly both in thought and action.” Aligning with the Vice Dean’s message, he emphasized, “We are here as educated people, selected individuals. Not everyone can enter Undip, and not everyone can enter FISIP. Essentially, before we act, we must be able to think justly both in thought and action.”

Furthermore, Mrs. Sulastri, S.KP., M.Kes, the parent of Kharisma Kusuma Putri Utami, a graduating student from the Undergraduate Program in Government Studies, expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the achievements of the graduation candidates, “May the knowledge transferred to them be beneficial not only in this world but also in the hereafter.” She also encouraged the graduates to continue pursuing their dreams. “There is still a long journey ahead. You have just reached the first finish line, and now let us begin the journey towards the next finish line,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, highlighted several achievements of FISIP Undip, such as being ranked in the top 500+ in the world according to the QS World University Rankings, being the No. 1 campus with the fastest graduate employment rate based on the QS Ranking for Employability 2021-2022, and ranking 2nd nationally and 30th globally as a Sustainable University according to the UI GreenMetric 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Additionally, Dr. Teguh introduced several facilities at FISIP Undip, including the Koi Fish Aquarium, the FISIP Undip World Class Faculty Photobooth, Panoramic Lifts, the Disabled-Friendly Corridor, Paris Van FISIP ACA, FISIP Aviary, the PKM Student Co-Working Space, the PKM Student Meeting Room, and Co-Working Space around the Basketball Court.

The 175th Graduation Ceremony of FISIP Undip was conducted more festively compared to previous ceremonies. The event was enlivened by performances from students, staff, and lecturers within FISIP Undip, adding to the enthusiasm and joy of the graduation candidates and all attendees.
