Semarang (19/07) – To achieve the target of ranking among the top 400 universities in the world, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) organized an event called Ben Connect Alumni Network Strengthening with the theme “FISIP Undip Towards the Top 400 in the World by Subject.” This event was held on Friday, July 19, 2024, in the form of an online talk show via Zoom Meeting and was attended by almost 600 participants.
This event marked an important moment for FISIP Undip to strengthen its relationship with its alumni. Through the talk show and discussions, FISIP Undip alumni and the academic community exchanged ideas on strategic steps to elevate the faculty to higher achievements on the international stage.
The talk show began with a welcome address from the Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin. He expressed his hope that this event would strengthen the FISIP Undip alumni network and contribute to Undip’s overall achievements. Dr. Teguh also emphasized the crucial role of alumni in enhancing the employability and outcomes of FISIP Undip graduates, as well as in building a good reputation for the Faculty internationally.
Next, the Chairperson of the FISIP Undip Alumni Association (IKA), Drs. Masrokhan Sulaiman, MPA, CGCAE, presented several important points regarding the role of alumni in supporting FISIP Undip’s progress. He emphasized the importance of alumni collaboration, financial contributions, strategic input, promotion and branding, mentorship programs, nurturing activities and traditions, and community development.
The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., in his address, outlined Undip’s target to achieve a ranking among the top 400 in the QS World University Rankings. He explained that currently, Undip was ranked 700+ at the university level and 300-600 by subject. He stressed that the support of alumni was crucial in achieving this target.
Prof. Suharnomo also announced that Undip had launched an undergraduate program in Fishery and Marine Business Technology at the Jepara Campus with 100% free tuition for students. This program is intended for prospective students holding KIP-K cards and underprivileged communities. He emphasized that Undip, as a dignified and beneficial university, aimed to actively contribute to Central Java, which consistently ranks second in terms of the highest number of poor populations each year.
The Ben Connect Alumni Network Strengthening event was also enlivened with games and exciting door prizes. This added to the festivities and strengthened the bond between the alumni and the FISIP Undip academic community.
Overall, the Ben Connect Alumni Network Strengthening event is a strategic step taken by FISIP Undip to achieve the target of ranking among the top 400 universities in the world. Through alumni collaboration and contributions, FISIP Undip is confident in reaching its goal and becoming a leading faculty on the international stage.
