Semarang (24/06) – Mental health and the prevention of sexual violence are two crucial aspects that are of paramount importance within the campus environment, including at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Diponegoro (Undip). To support the creation of a healthy and safe campus environment for all members of the academic community, the FISIP Wellness Unit (FWU) organized various activities aimed at strengthening students’ mental health and preventing sexual violence on campus.
On Monday, June 24, 2024, the FWU held a Workshop on Strengthening Student Mental Health and Efforts to Prevent Sexual Violence at the FISIP Undip Campus, which took place in room B.103 of the FISIP Undip Campus. This event invited members of the Faculty Student Counseling Body (BKMF), Peer Counsellors, FWU members, and the Healthy Campus team to participate. The keynote speaker at this workshop was Mrs Irnida Terana, M.Psi., a psychologist who has partnered with the FWU since last year in providing counselling services and training activities. In her presentation, Irnida explained several topics related to mental health/mental well-being, Psychological First Aid, Sexual Violence among Adolescents, and the steps for handling such issues. Workshop participants were also encouraged to actively participate in role-play sessions where they were given case examples and asked to provide solutions to these problems.
Previously, the FWU also conducted Peer Counsellor Training on the Prevention and Handling of Mental Health Issues and Sexual Violence on Campus, which involved students and educational staff within the FISIP Undip environment as an effort to ensure comprehensive support for the entire academic community. Therefore, we hope to create a campus environment that is more caring, responsive and aware of mental health and sexual violence issues, so that students can learn and develop in a safe and supportive atmosphere.
