UNDIP and the European Union Strengthen Collaboration and Cooperation

The European Union Embassy for Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Diponegoro University (UNDIP) on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. The signing ceremony took place at the Widya Puraya Rectorate Building on the UNDIP Tembalang campus, with UNDIP represented by its Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., and the European Union Embassy represented by the EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Denis Chaibi. The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNDIP also attended the signing event.

This collaboration aims to advance relations between Indonesia and the European Union through communication and academic activities conducted by the EU delegation and its partner university. The partnership will strive to enhance the role of youth in global issues and empower students to become influential figures in the future. Additionally, this collaboration opens scholarship opportunities for students who wish to study at universities in the European Union.

The Rector of Diponegoro University welcomed this collaboration positively, hoping it can be expanded with good cooperation to benefit both parties.

The Dean of FISIP UNDIP, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, expressed hope that this cooperation would continue to grow, not only with FISIP but also with all faculties at UNDIP. “Hopefully, this collaboration can be further enhanced, not just with FISIP but with all faculties at UNDIP,” he said.

Before the signing ceremony, the European Union Embassy held a public lecture in the Senate Meeting Room of FISIP UNDIP titled “EU-Indonesia Relations: Many Commonalities & Opportunities for Enhanced Cooperation.” In this lecture, the EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam explained the European Union in general and its potentials.
