Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. The signing of the MoU took place concurrently with a Guest Lecturer event organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at the Auditorium Room, Building A, FISIP UNDIP, Tembalang.
The MoU document was signed by the Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., and the Chairman of KPU RI, Hasyim Asy’ari, S.H., M.Si., Ph.D. UNDIP and KPU RI agreed to enhance cooperation in the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in the fields of Elections and Democracy Education.
The scope of this cooperation includes education, research, teaching, and community service in the fields of democracy and elections. Additionally, it was agreed to organize collaborative research and improve human resource quality in the areas of elections and democracy.
KPU Chairman, Hasyim Asy’ari, S.H., M.Si., Ph.D., urged UNDIP students to continually absorb knowledge, not only cognitive but also affective and psychomotor. Moreover, logical thinking abilities and creativity should always be honed.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. warmly welcomed the collaboration between UNDIP and KPU RI. According to him, it was the right time for UNDIP to appear in the public sphere and take part in addressing national problems from an academic perspective.
“The university is the most ideal place to generate bright ideas to represent the people. So, if the people feel wronged, there is someone to speak on their behalf. Hopefully, we can be part of a university that helps safeguard this nation,” said the Rector of UNDIP. (Hng-Humas)
