Semarang (10/6) – On Thursday, October 5, 2023, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) signed a Letter of Intent with Georgia State University (GSU) located in Atlanta, United States. This action is expected to be the first step in developing a more specific and diverse cooperation between these two higher education institutions.
The Letter of Intent signed today opens up extensive opportunities for cooperation between FISIP Undip and GSU. Several aspects of cooperation to be explored include student exchange programs, international studies, collaborative research and publications, academic staff exchanges, and other specialized programs. This provides an opportunity to involve departments within FISIP Undip and even consider expanding cooperation to other faculties at Undip.
Currently, the ongoing collaboration between Undip and GSU is the Virtual Exchange Program. However, with the signing of this Letter of Intent, both parties hope to continue their collaboration by implementing various new initiatives. One of them is the implementation of an Offline Summer Course, where GSU students will come to Semarang to attend lectures in person. Additionally, there will be an Exchange Program IUP (CTS) involving students from both institutions.
The Undip delegation that visited GSU for three days was led by the Dean of FISIP Undip, Prof. Dr. Drs. Hardi Warsono, M.T. During this visit, the FISIP Undip delegation engaged in various activities aimed at deepening their understanding of international cooperation opportunities. They held a series of meetings and dialogues with representatives from GSU’s College of Business and College of Arts and Science, discussed cooperation possibilities with the Vice Dean for International Network, and visited academic facilities at GSU. Furthermore, they also attended the ongoing Study Abroad Fair at GSU, providing insights into the study abroad experiences for GSU students.
With the signing of this Letter of Intent, FISIP Undip and GSU have opened the door to a closer partnership in the fields of education and research. This is a significant step in expanding their international cooperation networks, and it is expected to provide significant benefits to the students and academic staff
