Universitas Diponegoro successfully organized the Student Qur’an Recitation Competition (Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an Mahasiswa – MTQM) at the University level in 2023. The event, which carried the theme “Reviving the Qur’an, Building Civilization,” took place on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 08:30 AM local time in the 3rd-floor Auditorium of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisip) at the Undip Tembalang Campus.

The event was attended by the Undip Rector, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Vice Deans for Academic and Student Affairs from various faculties and schools, Director of Academic Affairs and Alumni, Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Bureau, as well as other leaders within the Undip community. Additionally, the MTQM Undip 2023 included a panel of judges and participants.

Representing the Undip Rector, Prof. Faisal, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, officially opened the MTQM Undip 2023. In his address, Prof. Faisal emphasized that the purpose of the MTQM Undip 2023 was to cultivate love and enthusiasm among students and the community for continuously studying and understanding the Qur’an as a guide and moral compass for human life.

“MTQM Undip 2023 should not be perceived merely as a ceremonial routine but should serve as a strategic opportunity to infuse the development and daily behavior of the community with the values of the Qur’an,” expressed Prof. Faisal.

Furthermore, MTQM Undip 2023 also served as a platform for selecting the best Undip delegates who would represent the university at the National Student Qur’an Recitation Competition XVII 2023, to be held at Brawijaya University, Malang, from November 3 to 10, 2023. “May the delegates of MTQM Undip 2023 achieve the best performance at the national level,” Prof. Faisal added.

In his report, the MTQM Undip 2023 Coordinator, Nur Fauzan Ahmad, S.S., M.A., explained that the event had 215 participants organized into 151 teams. MTQM Undip 2023 featured 18 categories of Qur’anic competition, including Qur’an Recitation for Men and Women; Qur’an Memorization (Tartil) for Men and Women; Memorization of 10 Juz and 20 Juz for Men and Women; Memorization of 30 Juz for Men and Women; Qur’an Comprehension; Scientific Papers on the Qur’an; Qur’anic Calligraphy in the categories of Decoration and Contemporary; Celebration of the Prophet’s Birth; Arabic-Language Qur’an Content Debate; English-Language Qur’an Content Debate; Qur’anic Interpretation (Syarhil Qur’an); and Sab’ah Recitation.

Kegiatan MTQM Undip 2023 merupakan salah satu persiapan yang dilakukan Undip untuk menyambut Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an Mahasiswa Nasional XVII 2023 yang akan dilaksanakan di Universitas Brawijaya, Malang pada 03-10 November 2023 mendatang. Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an Mahasiswa merupakan ajang dua tahun sekali yang dilaksanakan oleh Kemendikbudristek dalam upaya pengembangan talenta mahasiswa dibidang Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an. MTQM Undip 2023 served as a significant preparation for Undip’s participation in the National Student Qur’an Recitation Competition XVII 2023, scheduled to take place at Brawijaya University, Malang, from November 3 to 10, 2023. The National Student Qur’an Recitation Competition is a biennial event organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) aimed at nurturing student talents in the field of Qur’anic recitation.
