Semarang – Mas and Mbak FISIP is one of the competition categories in the series of work programs from the BEM FISIP Diponegoro University, namely FISIP MARS which was held from May 6 to May 22 and was packaged like a class meeting in general. In simple terms, Mas and Mbak FISIP are not much different from the concept of Abang and None Jakarta or Cak and Ning Surabaya. They are elected representatives from each department in FISIP who have a combination of good appearance and intelligence and critical thinking.

The selection of representatives to take part in the event Mas and Mbak FISIP from the Communication Studies program is a little different. Selection is not done by open recruitment, but the selection is done by private chat by asking if you can join the series of Mas and Mbak FISIP.

“Initially, I was not brave enough to take this opportunity, because I was afraid that I would not be able to represent Ilkom’s children well. But I thought about it again, it would be a shame if there was an opportunity in front of my eyes and I didn’t take it,” said Zayn as the representative of Communication Studies as a delegation from Mas and Mbak FISIP.

Zayn said that he wanted to get out of his comfort zone and wanted to make friends from other study programs. According to him, having many relationships can be loyal to the alma mater of Diponegoro University, especially FISIP.

Furthermore, the obstacles experienced by Zayn during the process of becoming a representative for Communication Science were internal factors. He is still struggling with the feeling of being unfit to be the representative of Communication Science in the Mas and Mbak FISIP event because several other friends he thinks could be more appropriate. Not only that but being able to balance time with several other activities seems to be a challenge in itself.

“Do It Because You Love It. Maybe I’m not the best in Communication Science, but I try to give my best,” he said.

Who would have thought, even though he was shrouded in doubt about taking this opportunity, Zayn still managed to become Deputy Mas and Mbak FISIP. Zayn said, when he heard his name mentioned, he felt nervous and excited for sure. As a Communication Science student, of course, he wants to keep branding himself by looking not rigid and as he is, as a Communication Science student should be.

After being elected as the representative for Mas and Mbak FISIP, Zayn has played a very important role. He tries his best to embrace all FISIP students and can be an example in applying good values ​​in life.

Zayn hopes that in the future, Mas and Mbak FISIP’s event can be a bridge to unite all FISIP students, even though they come from different backgrounds and ways of getting along. Don’t be afraid to take the opportunity to be a delegate because surely we are all able to represent our respective majors.

“Mas and Mbak FISIP is an event to unite all departments in FISIP FISIP. But the most important thing is how we can position ourselves to hold each other’s hands,” concluded Zayn at the end of the word.
