Two lecturers of Universitas Diponegoro were selected to participate in the Science Leadership Collaborative, a world-class scientist leadership program designed to encourage Indonesian researchers to develop their potential to lead innovative research projects, both nationally and internationally. Theose two were Dr. Laila Kholid Alfirdaus, S.IP., MPP. (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences) and Ni Kadek Dita Cahyani, Ph.D. (Faculty of Science and Mathematics).

There are 30 researchers selected from various fields in Indonesia to join the leadership training program. In nine months, program participants will attend a series of workshops from international facilitators and speakers. In addition, they will also participate in mentoring sessions with leading scientific figures from within and outside the country, as well as be involved in various activities that encourage collaboration between participants. The program entitled “Science Leadership Collaborative” is organized by The Conversation Indonesia.

Laila Kholid Alfirdaus is the Head of the Undip Master of Political Science Study Program. She received her doctorate from Universitas Gadjah Mada. Her research focuses on the areas of public policy, including planning and evaluation in public and non-profit institutions, gender analysis, environmental politics, and civil society research. In addition, Laila also has practical experience as a consultant to policy and government experts. Currently, Laila also serves on the editorial board of POLITIKA, a journal on political science issues published by Undip.

Meanwhile, Ni Kadek Dita Cahyani is a lecturer in the Undip Biology Study Program. She is a Doctoral graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles, United States. She is also an expert in identifying species and assessing biodiversity with genetic and molecular approaches. Besides, she has experience as a researcher at the Marine Education and Research Organization (MERO) Foundation, a marine education and research centre in Bali, and the Indonesian Biodiversity Foundation (Bionesia), a non-profit organization engaged in education, research, and conservation of Indonesian biodiversity.

The step taken by these two Undip lecturers is a tangible manifestation of an effort to increase the reputation and visibility of UNDIP researchers on the international scene according to the UNDIP milestone to become a world-class university (World Class University) by increasing indicators of Academic Reputation and International research network.
