SEMARANG- Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) keep working on becoming one of the faculties that internationally recognized, by targeting six of study programs to be internationally accredited in 2022. They are the Bachelor of Public Administration, Bachelor of Governance Studies, Master of Political Science, Master of Communication Science, Master of Public Administration and Doctor of Social Science.

The strong determination was declared after there were two study programs at FISIP Undip, namely the Bachelor of Communication Science and Bachelor of Business Administration, succeeded to get internationally accredited by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) or by Germany accreditation agency on November 2021. The Dean of Fisip Undip, Dr. Drs. Hadi Warsono, MTP, said that the FIBAA accreditation had supported the effort of Undip as a World Class University (WCU). “Hopefully this achievement gives contribution for Undip and Indonesia,” said the Dean of Fisip while being interviewed by the PR team, Wednesday (29/12/2021).

However, in order to prepare the six study programs for the International accreditation in 2022, Dr Hadi conveyed there had been a special team that was assigned to work on the assessment preparation. On the other hand, they also had provided International facilities, full English documents, International programs, prepared International academic learning infrastructure either for the offline or online and hybrid meetings, as well as prepared an Inglish website for all academic activities. “In the future, it is expected that the quality of the education and competence will be much better.”

Hardi also said that in 2021 in addition to obtaining international accreditation for two study programs, Fisip Undip also received achievements at the world level, namely being ranked the world’s top +600+5 in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR 600+5) based on the field of science (by subject). “The QS WUR ranking is held every year to help the public identify the leading universities in various countries according to a particular clump or field of knowledge, including finding out the best universities in Indonesia,” he explained.

According to him, the ranking was determined based on an assessment of the situation, productivity, research impact (h-index), as well as the results of a global survey conducted on graduate users and academics. The QS WUR 2021 ranking covered various scientific fields from different fields of science, such as Art and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Science and Medical, Natural Sciences, Social Science and Management and others.

“Besides this achievement, we have had 66 patents and intellectual property rights until this year, in the form of 7 module books to contribute to the nation’s progress in the social, political, policy and administrative fields,” he explained.

Previously, Undip Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Budi Setiyono S.Sos., M.Pol. Admin., Ph.D., said that in 2021 15 study programs had passed the direct international accreditation by FIBAA which had been proposed long before the proposal process began in January 2021.

He explained that the application for study program accreditation was in line with the Undip Campus Development Master Plan for 2013-2026, where Universitas Diponegoro was currently entering phase V (2020-2024) namely Strengthening Research Universities. This was in accordance with the IKU (UNDIP Performance Indicator) with World Class University criteria, that Undip was targeting 40 Internationally accredited study programs.

“So we need 25 more out of the targeted 40 study programs we have to achieve. Thus, we continue to encourage study programs to achieve international accreditation by improving services, human resource competencies, including infrastructure with international standards. So we are very optimistic that the target of 40 internationally accredited study programs can be achieved,” said Prof. Budi.

In the context of quality assurance, Undip is committed to implementing two major patterns, namely the internal quality assurance system and the external quality assurance system. The Internal Quality Assurance System as an organizational aspect built by university leaders uses the Academic Quality Internal Audit (AIMA) instrument which consists of 12 Educational Standards and 3 Research and Community Service Standards.

Meanwhile, the External Quality Assurance System implemented by Undip complies with the National and International Standards including the BAN-PT Accreditation Standard (National Accreditation Board for Higher Education); FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) standards; ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics/Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics) standards; ABEST21 (The Alliance On Business Education And Scholarship For Tomorrow) standards; IABEE (Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education) standards. The selection of international accrediting institutions is adjusted to the needs and competencies of the accrediting institutions. (public relations team)
