Abdullah Umbu Abidin (Alumni of FISIP Commerce Administration 1993) was elected as chairman of the Regional Leader Council of Universitas Diponegoro Alumni Association, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DPD IKA Undip DIY) for the 2021 – 2026 period, in the Regional Conference of IKA Undip DPD DIY which was held at the Yogyakarta City Hall Complex (26 /12).

According to the Decree of the DPP IKA UNDIP, Number: 08/SK-DPP IKA UNDIP/XII/2021, dated December 26, 2021, the composition of the daily management includes Hendy Purwo Prabowo and Putri Khusnul Khotimah served as the treasurer.

“We are trying to give something positive for the benefit of alumni, especially in the DIY area, while our mission is to gather alumni, both young and senior, to get back together. We have also pioneered the Pancasila Village, Diponegoro Village and even worked on a documentary about Prince Diponegoro that we made together with the Diponegoro patra. In addition, our function is to facilitate the alumni so that they can play an active role in DIY,” said Umbu.

He said that along with his young team who have different professional backgrounds, they will soon implement new work programs. DPW IKA DIY tries to develop content related to the struggle of Prince Diponegoro, while their external programs will be more on collaborating and building solidarity between the alumni and the community around them. During this pandemic, they will work more on digital content or digital forums and online activities such as social media.

“We really want to be able to watch the Diponegoro’s puppets on the Undip campus, so it is shown on the Tembalang campus all night long because it is also necessary for students to know Diponegoro’s history, to witness how Prince Diponegoro’s roles are played through the art of wayang,” he continued.

“Whatever happens, we are never tired of doing the best for the alma mater, benefiting many people, raising our alma mater wherever and whenever we are,” concluded Umbu. (Lin-Humas)
