UNDIP FISIP Student Executive Board Initiates ‘Mangrove For Future’ Event

Semarang- Undip FISIP Student Organization along with the Semarang Marine and Fishery Office and PT Djarum Indonesia, carried out mangrove planting activities in the Mangrove for Future event initiated by the 2021 Undip FISIP Student Executive Board.

The Mangrove for Future event was be held on September 5, 2021, at 08.00 GMT+7 by planting 1000 mangrove seeds. The planting of 1000 mangrove seeds was carried out in the Tambak Rejo area, North Semarang. This event aimed to raise awareness and participation of the students to contribute directly to the preservation of the Mangrove forest ecosystem.

“My friends and I from the Community Service Division of FISIP Undip Student Executive Board really hope that through this experience, the students who come will be more committed to the environmental issues and give their contribution not only to this event but to be sustainable,” said Tassa Tantiana as the chief executive of Mangrove for Future event.

The Mangrove for Future event initiated by the 2021 Undip FISIP Student Executive Board received positive support from the Eastern Region Marine Office, Marine and Fishery Office of Central Java Province “Thank you for the mangrove planting activities organized by the 2021 UNDIP FISIP Student Executive Board, and for being active and caring about the conservation and rehabilitation of the coastal areas of Semarang, especially the Tambakrejo Village. We hope that in the following year, there will be more UNDIP students who care about preserving the environment both on land and at sea,” said Pak Surya as the Conservation Division Staff who also came at the Mangrove for Future event.

Not only the Eastern Region Marine Office, and the Marine and Fishery Office of Central Java Province, this event was also attended by PT Djarum Indonesia who also appreciated the students’ concern for the environment. “Keep fighting and give inspiration for the younger generation to be DarLing or Sadar Lingkungan (environmental literate). Where do we take our earth if we don’t take care of it,” said Mr. Supohadi as the representative of PT Djarum Indonesia.

The success of this event could not be separated from the assistance from the Camar Group or Cinta Alam Mangrove Asri dan Rimbun (Love the Beautiful and Lush Mangrove Nature) Tambak Rejo, North Semarang. Pak Yayit as the representative of the Camar Group said “I really appreciate the students from Undip FISIP who have helped in this mangrove planting program. I hope that in the future, the wider community can also participate in maintaining this natural stability, especially in protecting the coastal areas from abrasion by increasing the mangrove trees in coastal areas.” (M Zainal/ Feyza Syifa)
