Phalosa.idn: Efforts To Grow Business Spirit Through Independent Study Program

Semarang – One of the Merdeka Campus programs, namely Certified Independent Studies, has been implemented since June 10, 2021. Independent Studies is a program that aims to provide opportunities for students to learn and develop themselves through activities outside the classroom while still being recognized as part of lectures. Students from all public and private universities in Indonesia can join this program.

From the Communication Studies Program, there is one team that participates in the program. Tyara Marshanda Putri, Alifia Putri Nabila, Noelia Yusminanda, and Fikrii Nur Fauzi took advantage of this opportunity by realizing Phalosa.idn, which is the name of the team that proposed the Independent Study project proposal with the title Development of Youth Creativity Succeeding SDG’s 2030. Tyara stated that Phalosa itself has the meaning “light” which is expected to be a light for the younger generation and local economic actors.

“According to data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, as many as 6.32 million people in Indonesia are unemployed,” said Alifia.

“We see from this that there is the potential to create an activity so that it has an impact on the Indonesian people, at least the movement we make can be useful for young people to be able to start their businesses at a young age,” she continued.

In detail, Phalosa.idn aims to provide understanding and knowledge to the Indonesian people about the business world or how to start a business, as well as being a stimulus to the public to dare to step up to become entrepreneurs at a young age, as well as dismiss the mindset that business is difficult.

Phalosa.idn also cooperates with one of the local MSMEs with Semarang Ethnic Accessories products with the owner who is a student in the Business Administration Study Program, Hasna Humaira.

“We will focus on branding MSMEs, we will also provide material on business development, will also hold a special coaching class for junior-high school-age children, workshops that are open to the public and the MSMEs that we participate in are Semarang Ethnic Accessories to increase knowledge,” said Tyara.

The activity was held by Phalosa.idn, namely coaching class, for children under 17 years old with Hasna Humaira as the founder of Semarang ethnic accessories as the speaker. In the coaching class, there will be presentations on basic material for doing business at a young age and providing digital logbooks for participants to fill out regarding future plans. Then, there is a workshop that is divided into two sessions with the target audience of adults (over 17 years old) on the basics of doing business and marketing. Phalosa.idn itself introduces its activities through the Instagram social media platform, namely @phalosaidn.

From the various benefits and impacts of Phalosa.idn, this Independent Study activity is also inseparable from the role of the Communication Studies Program FISIP Undip.

“There is a role, of course, because it is financed by Communication Studies, this activity must be clear and the objectives must be explained in detail. Mbak Uli provides new insights so that the activity can have quite an impact, Mbak Amida, Mas Johan also provide input,” explained Alifia.

Phalosa.idn is also expected to be able to attract a wider community so that people, especially the younger generation in the era of society 4.0, can take advantage of their potential and take advantage of all opportunities to do business. In addition, the existence of workshops can increase public knowledge about these SMEs.

“Later we will hold a design thinking competition as our output and this is indeed a request from the Semarang Ethnic Accessories owner to build innovation from his MSME business,” concluded Tyara.
