“Education will provide a stronger foundation in terms of our critical reasoning on various life problems, as well as providing us with the provision to be agile in navigating our career journeys, both in corporations and in our businesses. Go with the flow, but don’t get carried away,” said Radityo Prabowo, alumnus of Communication Studies, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro.
“When I was in high school, I chose to major in Languages. Before graduating, I reconsidered what majors were centred or used language skills besides the literature majors. Incidentally, there was an older classmate who stopped by the school and he turned out to be majoring in Communication Studies. At that moment, I became interested and thank God I was accepted at Undip through the State University Entrance Examination or UMPTN in 2000 and graduated in 2004,” he said.
“My favourite subject in college was non-verbal communication which turned out to be very useful in my daily professional life. For example, when conducting the media training to company leaders when I was still working in the agency sector or currently at the Ministry of Education and Culture where I work, the movements as the speakers were also able to convey a message. It is a combination of art and science from communication science,” he continued.
Radityo started his career as a radio announcer during his third semester of college, followed by his career on local TV in Semarang. Then, he decided to move to Jakarta in 2010 and changed his profession from broadcasting and journalism to public relations by joining a multinational agency. Until finally at the beginning of 2020, he carried out a state duty as an Expert for the Senior Advisor on the Minister of Education and Technology in the field of Communication and Media.
“I got a lot of extraordinary experiences during my studies at Undip, such as organizational experience, building communication between people including, in this case, negotiation and networking, as well as experience in living a professional career while studying,” he concluded.
