QS World University Rankings 2022: UNDIP Occupies The 8th Position In Indonesia.

SEMARANG-QS World University Rankings 2022 released another ranking results for global universities in early June 2021. Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) managed to occupy the 8th position in Indonesia and 1001-1200 positions in the world.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2022 used 6 performance indicators to calculate the global ranking. These indicators were: Academic reputation (40%), Employer reputation (10%), Faculty/Student Ratio (20%), Citation per faculty (20%), International faculty ratio (5%), International student ratio (5%)

For Undip itself, the results of the calculation of the QS World University Rankings 2022 based on data from each indicator, were as follows: Academic reputation (14.2), Employer reputation (17.5), Faculty/Student Ratio (10.6), Citation per faculty (1.4), International faculty ratio (10.8), International student ratio (2.2). So, the result of the calculation of the total Undip score was 10.48. It put Undip in 8th place nationally.

Regarding the rating table on https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2022#top_menu page, The Head of the Undip Ranking Office, Prof. Dr. Denny Nugroho ST MSi, said that the QS WUR 2022 referred to the order of letters (alphabet) for groups of the same range rating 1001-1200. Meanwhile, if the calculation and data analysis were carried out based on existing indicators, the total score of Undip was around 10.48 so that, it ranked 8th nationally, beyond Bina Nusantara University (9), Brawijaya University (10), and Telkom University (11).

This result was achieved because of the cooperation and synergy of all parties. Strengthening the path in realizing Undip as a World Class University. Vice-Rector of Research and Innovation Undip, Prof. Dr. Ir Ambariyanto, MSc., expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of all parties. “We express our gratitude, congratulations and success to the Rector, the Vice-Rectors, and the Leaders in the Undip environment, all lecturers, staff, and all academics and alumni in this achievement to continue to realize Undip as a World Class University,” said Prof. Ambar.

Asked for his opinion on this matter, Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama SH MHum, hoped that this achievement would be an indicator that the campus he led had received worldwide recognition. The achievement of Undip’s vision to become an excellent research university and world class university by increasing the academic quality and the quality of graduates accepted in the workforce. It was not easy to achieve, therefore Undip also continued to make efforts to improve the academic reputation at the global level, in collaboration with the QS 100 WUR university, improving the quality of research, publications and sites, as well as collaborating with foreign researchers, increasing the number of foreign students, “said Prof Yos Johan, Wednesday (11/6/2021).

The results of this ranking had become one of the references used by prospective students and their families in choosing a college. These results were also used by the government and universities to determine the next policy direction to be implemented.

With a strict assessment, only 11 universities in Indonesia had succeeded in entering the QS World University Rankings 2022 ranking. These universities were dominated by State Universities. The rankings were Universitas Gajah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Airlangga, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Bina Nusantara, Universitas Brawijaya, dan Universitas Telkom. Universitas Gajah Mada was in 1st position with a total score of 38.3.

As for the global level, based on the QS World University Rankings 2022 ranking, it put the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the first position. This university, which is located in the City of Cambridge, recorded a total score of 100. Sticking to second place, the University of Oxford with a total score of 99.5. While third place was achieved by Stanford University with a total score of 98.7 points.

Please note that the QS World University Rankings was not an arbitrary institution. QS World University Rankings was the only international ranking agency that had received approval from the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG). The QS World University Rankings institution itself was one of the three most widely read university ranking institutions in the world according to Alexa Internet. Other well-known institutions were the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and Times Higher Education World University.
