The national KDMI of 2020 was followed by 30 teams from 15 regions (LLDIKTI) in Indonesia, using the Asian Parliamentary (AP) system. During this COVID-19 Pandemic that was still happening, this year the KDMI competition would be held online.

The competition was held with the principle that students could excel by competing from home. This was aimed to protect the students’ health and the sense of security from the threat of the Covid-19 virus. Since the complexity of the implementation system used in the online KDMI, technical guidance was needed to make the KDMI run well in accordance with the provisions and rules applied in a debate competition.

The National KDMI was held in several selection stages, starting from the selection stage, the eighth final stage (top 18), quarter-final stage, semi-final stage and final stage.

The assessment aspects include:

  1. Content, it is the argumentation logic delivered by the speaker
  2. Delivery, it is the way the debater delivers their argumentation
  3. Strategy, it includes how the speaker uses the time given wisely

The KDMI Team of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) that consisted of M. Al Ansharie Yusuf (FH), Luluk Wahyu Setiawan (FEB) and Lusiana Gusprima Putri (FISIP) had won the IInd place on KDMI of 2020, while Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) had won the Ist place and Universitas Tadulako and Universitas Hasanuddin had won the IIIrd place.

Congratulation to students of Universitas Diponegoro who had successfully won a national competition. Hopefully, we can attain better achievements in the future.
